I was virgin media chat and one of the customer service to add UHD,he said I couldn’t do that and would have to change my package I pay £91 a month and he told me it would cost me £141 to change like for like ,when it’s only an extra £6?
another said I could do it on my and virgin app that didn’t work,he said he would try to do it but he couldn’t either?
As far as I'm aware when you take out the UHD add on then that add on is on a rolling 30 day contract as shown in my recent recontract email offering.
And from the small print in that email:-
Customers who have Sky Sports HD as part of their package will be moved to Sky Sports UHD when recontracting or making a qualifying change to their package. Customers who have Sky Sports UHD as part of their package will receive a discount on Sky Sports UHD when recontracting or making a qualifying change to their package.
EDIT - It looks like the UHD addon is now £7 a month (Info below from The Legal Stuff > Offers > TV section at the bottom of the following page :-
Sky UHD: Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment UHD requires a V6 or Virgin TV 360 box and a 4K compatible TV/device with HDCP 2.2. Up to 4x the clarity of standard HD content: based on comparison of HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) versus UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels). £7 a month to add UHD, this will provide the available UHD content in the chosen bundle or entertainment pack (Eg, if you have Sky sports and select UHD for £7 you will receive Sky sports in UHD, if you have Sky Sports and Cinema and choose UHD for £7 you will receive Sky Sports and Cinema in UHD). Prices may increase at any time during the contract.
When I go on virgin ask a question it tells me I can add on UHD to my existing package I’m paying £91 per month and virgin want £141 like for like but with UHD added,it’s only £7 to add?
Sounds about as sharp as the encounter we had this week with a Sky TV salesman, who cold called and offered to supply a free Sky streaming device only to send repeated emails with broken links i.e. we could not see the revised contract or T&Cs or confirm the device was free.
When we declined to accept an unseen change to the subscription he launched into a ballistic offshore gabble & then hung up on us.
I've always found Sky to be better to deal with than VM, but this was quite poor.
I’m seeing a trend here, offshore customer service provision; check. Broken backend systems, check. CS agent (trained to the same high standards), launches into a tirade if you refuse to accept their offer (because their bonus depends on it)! Check!
