Subscribing without password

When I started with VM I went into the settings and selected PIN necessary for payments (presuming that anybody (wife) could not mistakenly sybscribe to something).  I now discover that option does not stop 'subscribing' and NO PIN is required.

I got an email today saying that I subscribed to TNT and my bill was going up £25.  I called VM and they told me that someone in this house had done that.  (I don't watch any sport, my wife watches golf and for that I pay for the Sports channels).  She (who is very much lacking in the IT (TV remotes) department) denies doing it.  I suspect that she might have done it without realising what she was doing.  But how could she have done it without the password/PIN?  I was SHOCKED to discover that NO password is necessary.  . . . . . . . . . . . WHY ???

  • Hi FortyTwo,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear that you've been able to subscribe to TNT sports without being asked for a PIN. A PIN is only asked for in cases where there is an age certificate in place and it's before the watershed. It will also be requested when trying to purchase pay per view content that has age certificates in place.

You can upgrade your package directly via the TV box or via My VM. In cases where you're upgrading, it will ask you to confirm before the upgrade goes through. We would advise making sure you, and your wife, ensure you read any prompts on the screen before confirming anything to ensure you fully understand what's being agreed to 😊

    Many thanks,

Thanks for the reply to my post . . . .

I hear what you say and I understand that the primary focus of VM is making money (more moeny) and want to make it easy to subscribe (and increase the subs) and I accept that they cannot be catering for older people who might be on the dge of dementai but what those homes with several children surely they should be offered some means of preventing the children subscribing?

Also, I called VM and was told that from hnece forth my system would need a PIN to subscribe and that I would be sent that PIN by email . . . . . . didn't get it.

Does VM have an email address I can complain to?
