Stop Service Outage Texts

Hey all,

A month ago we had a problem with our internet and so on the Service Status page I put my number in to receive updates to when the service is back online.

It worked and let me know by text when it was back online - only thing is, I’ve been recieving texts since then on an almost daily basis updating me on other random service issues (some of which I am sure aren’t effecting our postcode).

How do I stop these service status texts?

    Sorry to hear of the repetitive text messages referring to a local area outage.

    This is a bit of a new one on me...

    Check out the purple envelope in the top right hand corner for a private message from me and I'll take some details from you to see if we can put these to a stop for you.

      This is happening with me too and is driving me bonkers, how did you get these messages to stop as no way of doing this online. Get several day even when our service is fine!

        Sorry to hear you are still receiving notifications after the fault has been resolved and that you haven't been able to stop them.

  • I’m having the same issue. We had an outage earlier today which is now resolved but I’ve had 5 of these texts in the last 90 minutes. Can you let me know how to stop these please?

  • I have had the same issue going on for months. I’m not even a virgin media customer. I’ve tried to block the number and to no avail. It is driving me mad. Why is there no way of unsubscribing from these messages?????

  • Hi, I have the same issue, getting multiple SMS daily about service outages and there is no possibility to unsubscribe.  Can someone please let me know how I can opt out of these messages?  In my Virgin Media accounts I have already opted out of all communications long time ago.

        I’m having the same issue. I tried to send STOP to unsubscribe from the text messages, but it doesn’t send.  Please help me turn it off. The messages were early this morning and very annoying. 

  • Can I get a private message sent to me as well please to stop these texts.  I phoned up VM last week having started to receive these texts and was assured I would not receive any further messages, but have just received two messages this morning when my service is working.

    Very irritating and a waste of my time.

      Thanks for using the Community Forums to get these text updates stopped, I am sorry if this has been causing some frustration 😥

      Unfortunately there is no way for us to stop these texts from our side, all we can do within a private message is see whether the texts are accurate and offer further information on the fault that is ongoing at the time. 

      Sorry that we cannot help stop them on our side.

        So why have other people who have posted on here been sent a private message to get these messages stopped but you are telling me it cannot be done?

      Hi apumphrey,

      A warm welcome and thanks for posting on our community forums. We're sorry to hear you're still receiving text messages after your fault has now been resolved.

      Unfortunately, even though your fault is now resolved, if the area fault is still ongoing and affecting other customers within the area, these messages will still appear with an update. 

      We can't stop these messages until the fault has been fully rectified.
