section 21 notice, £280 disconnection fee

Hi, I have been served with a section 21  and, having just chatted with a web messaging agent, been told that I will need to pay £280 in early disconnection fees.

This seems deeply unfair as I do not want to move but are being legally obliged to do so against my will.

I would love to move into a new place and take the account with me but due to recent events and the cost of living crisis, I am now forced to move in with family who already have their own broadband set up.

I have seen that others may have been helped by VM agents on this service. PLEASE HELP!

    Welcome to the Community Forums.

Sorry to hear that you've been served with a Section 21 notice.

Early disconnection fees would be valid, even with eviction notices, sadly. This is something you can bring up with your landlord if you're being affected financially by their decision to issue a no-fault eviction.

Is the home you're moving into a non-serviceable property? You can double-check this with our postcode checker here. If so, then contact our movers team here, and they'll be able to assist you further with your home move process.

I don’t understand why with something that is beyond my control,  already a very stressful situation you as a supplier have to  punish a customer.  I’ll likely cancel my phone contract with O2 / Virgin as well if this isn’t resolved. I wouldn’t want to give additional service to such an unsympathetic company.

Reading this forum I have seen that enforcing the ETF  is not always the case so I’d like to know how with other customers, and there are multiple examples,  the termination fee has been wavered and what the criteria was for that?

Given I received the he confirmation from my landlord today, I am going to have to move in with a family friend completely out of the area  as I can’t afford to move to a new property. The family friend already has virgin at the property so unable to move the service to that address either.
