Hi, we too have contacted VM about renewal of our package.
On VM website Mega Volt bundle is advertised as £60 for VM services and £25 for O2 SIM card. We have been with VM in all its alternate names unbroken for 30 years since August 1994 when we bought our first home. Called retentions and was quoted £115 for the VM services plus the £29 we are now paying for the O2 SIM.
My wife has instructed for 30 days notice of disconnection and I shall be applying for a new account in my name once the DC is on the system. Either that or move over to County fibre who are offering 900mb asynchronous for much less, and pick up a cheap sky package. Thus breaking 30 years of unbroken brand royalty.
Is this doable?

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for posting 🙂
If the account is set up in a new name, this would be classed as a new customer, you would be unable to transfer over any phone numbers however.

Its simple if no other fast BB providers (but may cost a bit more but cheaper than some of the crazy VM prices people been quoted). Go to now tv and sign up for monthly FTTC (no contract lock in). Wait 90 days or more to get the best new customer offers with bill credits or free TVs PLUS topcashback.co.uk or quico.com cashback. Or if 4G/5G is good enough in your area, get a prepaid SIM card from Amazon or fleabay, and if you have a router like mine with capability for a dongle, plus that into your router and use that for a bit.
Hopefully when you return Ofcom might have got their finger out and stopped the unfair 18 month contracts with 2 unknown price increases in it and no escape clauses. This was the showstopper for me this time round, not the service or customer service (and the fact of a stupid price for 500mbps Broadband ONLY of £75.07). Legally the contract says you agree to the unknown figures - so if inflation was to jump to 13% - well you would have to pay 13% + 3.9% currently!
