Out of contract

Hello

I am posting today as my account is out of contract and after looking at upgrades from virgin media to start another contract, I was disappointed with what was on offer!!

I have looked at other providers and there are some really good deals out there so why should I stay with virgin media?

I am my family have been long and loyal customers but all the best deals are to entice new customers, which I get but is not ideal for me.

I would like to stay, however, that would all depend on whether virgin media engage in a conversation.

I am not happy with the broadband! It is slow and coverage throughout the house is rubbish! I also do not want the landline anymore, It doesn't get used so what's the point.

Please!! Virgin media, if you think you can help then please get in touch and I'll listen.

Sounds like your issue there is not the incoming broadband connection, but your in-home wireless environment. If you're still using the basic free kit that VM supply, that's no surprise.

Start a new post in https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Networking-and-WiFi/bd-p/Wireless with some basic details, and people who frequent that forum tend to be more familiar with all things wireless to offer more help.

Virgin have long operated a multi-bundle discounting policy, with the per-service price reducing with the more services you take. Landlines & mobiles especially often attract heavy discounting thus the "with" bundles often cost less than "without".

Ask yourself whether it's causing any inconvenience to have a landline installed that's not being used, on the basis that you're being paid to have one? If it genuinely is, then fine - insist on cancellation and adopt your costing strategy accordingly. If it's not hurting, then say "thankyou for the freebie and the cheaper price".

Before signing up with VM for a new minimum term, you should probably get VM to resolve your slow broadband and think about how VM (or you) can improve the wi-fi coverage in your home.

Once VM has you signed up for another 18 months you may struggle to get a resolution to those issues while also being locked into a new minimum term.

If VM can't fix the technical issues while you are out of contract you can easily give your 30 days' notice and move elsewhere. Far harder to escape once you are locked into another minimum term.

Some other providers will happily sell you broadband without a phone ine - the phone is an optional extra,

  • Hello Holmsey1,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your broadband and trying to arrange a new package. I have been able to look into your connection issues further and can see that there is an issue with one of your upstream channels that our system has flagged up to me, we would need to send out an engineer to resolve the issues. Would you like us to send out an engineer to look into the issues? This may help you make your mind up if you want to stay with us or not.

    Kind Regards,
