Hello

My contract expires on November 24th. It was for 18 months. I'm looking to renew. But when I click on upgrade my package every time it says "Oops that page isn't available right now".

Tried retentions but they aren't as cheap as signing up for a new deal.

My question is when can I renew for a fair price please and when would upgrade options be available to me?

Thankyou

  • Probably about 30 days before your contract expires. This is when you can give your 30 day notice, and you have control of the future , and VM will come begging to you ;)

  • Hello and sorry for the late reply.

For some reason my notifications weren't telling me I had any replies.

I still can't see anything, Sky have given me a good offer though which I began the process of, but then they are at the mercy of Open reach who are playing silly games and over 4 weeks to do the necessary cabling from pavement to house.

So as it stands it's still all very much up in the air whilst I await an intervention from someone, be that Sky, Open reach or Virgin.

I did manage to get through to retentions at Virgin over the telephone, but I expect as I'm not 30 days from expiry yet so their offer simply wasn't anywhere near what I'm paying now and promised to increase twice over 2 years so if anyone is willing to negotiate please get in touch.

    Thankyou

The majority of providers have annual price increases. Sky are no exception and their generally have an annual increase taking effect from your first bill after April 1st. see uswitch/sky-increasing-prices-what-consumers-can-do/

BT also increases its prices for almost all of its customers on 31st March each year, regardless of whether you are currently in-contract or out-of-contract. see uswitch.com//bt-price-hikes

Have you checked to see if any offers are available within My Virgin Media again since you tried 18 days ago?

The ideal time to call would be from 24th October, however I would suggest calling VM retentions again in the next few days, selecting options 1, 1, 4 and 4 when dialing 150 from a VM landline, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone, which should put you through to retentions (thinking of leaving) being aware of what you want and the price you are prepared to pay, and advise of them of the offers you have from Sky and other suppliers.

If they won't play ball with a price or package you are happy with then give in your notice (you can always change your mind, or call back again to see if any other offers are available) they might call you back (you need to have marketing enabled within your My Virgin Media account)

  • I'll keep checking but every time I check online or in the app I get the same response of this page isn't available right now so it would seem I don't currently have any options or incentives other than 350 meg Broadband becoming over £60 a month in November 😔

      Hello The_Red_Silence.

Just a quick message to see if you've been able to call the team yet to discuss a new deal?

The harder you try to renew, the worse deal you will be offered by VM.

      Let them come to you!

      Hi The_Red_Silence,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

When it comes to renewing, the best offers are available when you're within the last 30 days of your contract, as mentioned by Mr_K. Depending on the discounts on your account, you may not be able to view the offers online and will need to speak to the team.

From time to time, we have special offers and promotions to welcome new customers on board. When this offer ends, the package price will revert to the standard package price for the bundle. Although they may not always be available to existing customers, that doesn't mean that you miss out once you've joined us. We often have offers and special deals on our services, or one-off promotions to make sure you carry on getting the value you'd expect.

You'll receive an end of contract notification around 30 days before your minimum term ends and this will highlight some available offers at the time of printing.

If you're not able to see anything via My VM here, please get in touch with the team on 150 / 0345 454 1111 and they can go through a package renewal with you.

      Many thanks,
