O2 VM Account Credentials

I've had a need this afternoon to log in to Virginmedia, the issue giving rise, e-mail has actually resolved itself. But I've havig issues logging in to my O2 VM account.

The O2 VM ID was initially set up with my gmail account.

This afternoon I was presented with a log ID on using my Virginmedia Mail account. That wasn't going to work as I don't have a related password for that, except a separate mail client password. Got in then usinf e-mailed links and texted codes. I tried to revert to my gmail credentials, but was told I couldn't use that as it is my back up mail address?

Somehow by wating a few minutes, I was able to log in using my gmail account that I had set up previously as passwordless, and using a passkey. On the same device i set that up on, this promted for a password rather than keys on Chrome, but using Firefox it acknowledged the exisitance of a passkey but wouldn't use it, apparently it hadn't been verified.

So  going through mailed links and codes sent by text I got back in.

How do I get a passkey verified?

Is the passkey i ayway postrable to other devices?

It's rather pointless if password or passkey, you end up with mailed links and codes sent by text.

Obliged for any help

or any help

I hope the info below from https://www.virginmediao2.co.uk/help/identity/security helps

Passkey – This super secure method verifies who you are by using either your device’s
biometrics (like face or fingerprint recognition) or your screen lock code

With a passkey there’s no need to remember a password in order to sign in.
Passkeys are encrypted digital authentication methods, which are created on your device using biometrics, like face or fingerprint recognition, or your screen lock. After all, as you are your strongest password, it’s much less likely for security risks to occur.
Setting biometric authentication varies across devices and their software.
    For Apple iOS devices:
    Go to Settings
Tap the Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode option
Enter your device passcode if prompted
Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Face ID or Touch ID
    For other devices, including Android:
Many devices offer biometric authentication options. You can usually enable these options in your device’s settings
Look for options like Biometrics, Fingerprints, Face recognition, and set things up from there. If your biometrics are already set up, you’ll be able to toggle them on and off
Once enabled, you'll be able to use face or fingerprint recognition instead of entering a
     password or code

Thanks you for this. Having issues currently with finger print scanner on my laptop although PIN is working. Sounds like I need to revert to a password, (raise a case with Virgin?),  and recreate the passkey.
