New O2/VM Login

Hi

Think you may have already been asked this… But can’t find a specific answer on the FAQ’s…

I have (or at least I did have) … three accounts… One primary and two secondary accounts (or whatever secondary accounts are called these days).

I have not been able to access my primary account at all since the new O2/VM login… The email address just gets rejected (I have two outstanding IT tickets and told constantly that they are working on it and someone will get back to me..)

But… that aside…

I have manged to set up an O2/VM ID login with a secondary account which gives me limited access and I can log in to O2.

If I go through the setup routine with my other secondary account I get to  stage where it asks me to “Link your Virgin Media account to your Virgin Media O2 ID. You’ll then be able to manage your services online.”

This is the bit I don’t understand… and not sure how to proceed… So this is the question...

Will this override the O2/VM ID account I already have manged to set up... or does it create a new and separate O2/VM ID login?

Thanks

Tony_

  • Ok... Thank you... That's good... That is what I was hoping for...

It does make sense that they should retain separate identities but knowing VM... then anything is possible... which is why I wanted to double check...

    thanks again

AFAIK it will override the account, but I also believe there should be an option to skip this option to link the account, as it's not the primary one and does not need to be linked.  There may be some similar threads in the Email section of this Forum

The system does not seem very flexible...

Yes there is an option to "skip" but then the setup process grinds to a halt... You cannot then progress or finish the set up to access the emails of that secondary account. In order to continue the set-up process you seem to have to use the link...  And then from what you say, it overrides the O2 VM account you have just created. So that still leaves me confused.

So, the question is still...  I have 2 secondary accounts... is it possible to still have two secondary accounts with access to their emails? I have set up one... How do I set up the second without overriding the first?

Sorry but I am perplexed by this system!

Thanks for coming back to us Tony_, and welcome back to our Community Forums!

Just to better understand this situation, do you currently have access to the primary E-Mail account inbox as well as at least one of the secondary or is access to the secondary accounts complete restricted by the overriding?

Have you attempted to override this to gain access to the additional secondary inbox?

      Thanks,

I have lost access to the primary account since 14 July. If I type in my primary account email address it is rejected whether on a laptop or phone app. Countless calls to CS have resulted in being told there is a problem with my account... I have 2 x IT  tickets open and they are working on it.... (supposedly!)

So that primary account has probably had it...

But...I have two secondary accounts. One of the secondary accounts has been successfully set up with an O2/VM ID.. and I can also access email on the account. So that is fine!

My question is... If I now try and set up the second (secondary account) will that have its own O2/VM ID or does it overwrite the first one. (Cos it seems to get the stage in the setup where it asks you to link it... and unless you click on it ... not much happens)

Sorry, but don't understand how the system is supposed to work. To me it is unclear.

    Thanks

Tony_  For the secondary accounts the VMO2 ID will be the same as the username that you used to sign into the secondary account prior to the most recent changes.  This may be a third party email address if you have previously set one up or more likely it will be the actual Vm email address (or blueyonder, ntlworld etc).

In some cases where third party email addresses had been set for secondary accounts VM automatically changed these back to the original address in June 25.  If this is the case for your accounts you would have received an email from VM informing you.

When you sign into the VMO2ID page with the secondary email address it will take you through the process of adding a backup email and other alternative verification steps to the ID. Once completed you should find that the secondary email address is automatically linked and appears under the Manage Products section as a Virgin Media Mail account.  The section for Virgin Media account will remain unpopulated.

Ok thanks... I grasp how to do it...(I think).

So my question is still ... I have one secondary account set up OK...

If I attempt to set up my other secondary account ... do the two secondary accounts  retain their separate emails... And do they then have individual O2/VM ID logins or does one overwrite the other as has been suggested?

Sorry to labour the point... but this new process has meant that I have been  without without access to My Virgin Media  (contract/billing/email/package) for more than two months so I don't really want to mess thing up with what little I have left...which ain't much!

The reason for my caution is that I did manage to set up my primary account on that fateful day (14 July).

Flushed with success... I then went through the process of setting up one of my  secondary accounts...

That when the problems began... The secondary account  set up just fine with a nice new shiney  O2/VM  ID ... but I was then unable to access my primary account in any shape or form cos that set up seemed to have overwritten the details in the primary.

    Thanks

Tony_  Yes, the secondary accounts retain their separate Virgin Media Email accounts... And they do have individual VMO2ID logins.

I believe that David_Bn' response is incorrect and have asked the moderators to review it.
