New customer at same address

I’ve got a I’ve got a Gig1 broadband only contract coming to an end. I live with my brother who wants to sign up as a new customer, this will help me as it will take some burden off my shoulders. My question is: if I were to give notice to cancel my contract (and of course send virgin the equipment I have), on the day after my disconnection date, could my brother sign up as a new customer and have internet connection without any delays? Realistically, how long can we go without internet between the disconnection date and him joining as a new customer? Our connection point is all good so all my brother would need is a new self installation kit sent out. Really hoping someone from Virgin can respond, thanks

Yes, you can do exactly this, EXCEPT, you will need to cancel and return the kit.  Once your account is closed, your brother can take out a new 24 month contract in his name with new kit.

VM accounts are tied to the property and you can't have two at the same time.  Hence the slight delay between this change of account.  As all the cables are already in place and working, the delay should be minimal.  However, a 30 day data SIM tethered in an old phone, for example, should allow internet access for a while.

Thanks, yes I will be cancelling.  Just wanted to kindly clarify, at what point would VM consider my account ‘closed’. Is it the disconnection date, is it the date that they actually receive back the old kit from me or is it something else entirely?

        Hi Karl027471927 👋.

Thanks for reaching out to us, just to clarify, the 30 day notice period in which you wish to close your account will denote your account as closed, we compensate for the time that is needed for customers to return the equipment and do not apply that as additional days for account Closure.

        Hope this helps.
