My VM about is linked to a now defunct e-mail address

I have just set up a VM/O2 ID but when I tried to link to my existing VM Account I found that it was linked to a now defunct e-mail address. I can't link to it and I can't change it.

Does anyone know what I need to to to get around this?

  • Hi NeilB4 thanks for posting although we're sorry you're having issues with your email address.

Unfortunately we're unable to change the registered email address here, so we'd advise you to please call us directly on 150 / 0345 454 1111.

    Many thanks

  • Hi Tom_w1,

I tried 0345 454 1111 and all it did was to send me a link to the bot which couldn't help and which had directed me to 0345 454 1111 in the first place.

Can you advise on what option I should choose on 0345 454 1111 to change the registered e-mail address. Trying to deal with VM customer support appears to quickly turn into some kind of Kafkaesque nightmare and I'd like to escape from it as soon as I can!

    Thanks,

    Neil

  • Hi Tom_W1,

Finally some progress which I will describe for the benefit of anyone else having problems taking to someone at VM customer support.

If you call 150 / 0345 454 1111 and go through the various menus it will say that you have been sent a link that will sort everything (the one to the unhelpful bot) . Do not hang up and look at the link. Stay on-line for a few seconds and you will be directed towards an actual customer support person. Before you get to talk to them you have to say your password, which, in my case was one set up nearly 30-years ago. Fortunately, I remembered it. Not sure what you do if you don't know it.

I am afraid not. I finally managed to talk to someone who said that he had changed the registered e-mail address and to try it again in a few hours. I left it 24 hours and tried again but it still does not work.

        Any suggestions?

  • all solved now with a bit of help from the VM support team
