Moving Router Across Room

Hi, Our router was installed in the kitchen with a short cable via our disused kitchen hood extractor vent and the router sat atop a cupboard alongside. However, we are now having a new kitchen fitted, including a new extractor fan and there will be no cupboards for the router to sit on. We therefore need to have the router moved elsewhere in the kitchen, which will need a new hole drilled through the outside wall to allow the router to sit atop the fridge freezer further away. Can an engineer do this? Thanks

    VM will move the connection for £25. 

    The primary place to report faults or for service requests is Customer Services on 0345 454 1111/150 if you have a VM landline or wait two or three days for a VM staff member to get to your post.

    I would suggest finding an alternative location to place your hub.  Is the kitchen area actually the best location for your wifi needs, it may be more suitable to have it placed in a living room etc.

    It's generally not recommended to place a hub/router on top of a refrigerator. The refrigerator's metal body and electrical components can interfere with the router's signal, leading to reduced WiFi coverage and performance. It's best to place the router in a central location, away from large metal objects and electronic devices, to ensure optimal coverage throughout your home.
