Moving home - VM do not offer enough forms of proof to avoid EDCs

VM allow you to cancel up to 60 days before your move but then only give you 30 days to provide proof of your new address. I cannot get VM at new address so I am leaving after 20 years. The issue after cancelling by chat yesterday is the following:

Bank statement โ€“ I have not moved yet so I cannot change my address.

Mortgage โ€“ I donโ€™t have a mortgage; I am paying cash for my new property.

Rental agreement โ€“ I am buying, not renting.

Driving License - I have not moved yet so I cannot change my address.

Insurance policy - I have not moved yet so I cannot change my address.

Utility bill - I have not moved yet so I cannot change my address.

I sent a copy of my legal contract to purchase but it was rejected. I asked them to call me and that was rejected by autoreply. A disgrace to treat a long and loyal customer this way - jeez if I wanted to leave VM I could have done it many times over those 20 years. For goodness sake sort this out. Raging.

      I am also experiencing the same problem, 2 years later! Please let me know how we can get around this issue as we do not wish to leave VM, but there is no connection at our new postcode. 

      As the above, I also am buying outright and will not have proof of address in the specified timescale.  Please advise how this can be resolved.

        Hey pbamaber, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, we are so sorry to hear about your moving issue.

        If you are moving house and we cannot service your area, you would need to send the proof in.

        Once done any fee's would get waived, have you sent this in?  

  • How easy is history do and how quick will this be refunded?  it is a lot of money to take in one month
