O2 is a mobile operator and so provides mobile (not fixed) broadband and no TV.

O2 doesn't provide their own TV service seperate from VM but O2TV was registered at the UK's intellectual property office on 10 January 2025.

Virgin Media O2 considers launch of streaming TV service
The service would provide a new competitor in the TV package space, potentially rivalling its sister brand Virgin Media

The owner of mobile network O2 is considering launching a “premium” streaming TV service to compete with rival telecoms giants.

Virgin Media O2, co-owned by Telefonica and US investment firm Liberty Global since a 2021 merger, would launch the product under the name O2 TV.

The service would provide a new competitor in the TV package space, potentially rivalling its sister brand Virgin Media. The newly merged VodafoneThree is also considering launching a service to take on Virgin Media and BT’s EE TV.

It is not clear what form O2 TV would take. But one well-placed source stressed that it would not resemble a traditional linear TV service and could ape Virgin Media’s Stream product.

The digital-focused Stream is a physical box that customers can plug into their television and use to watch subscription services including Sky Sports, Netflix and Disney+. It also includes apps for the BBC’s iPlayer and YouTube.

Sources stressed that VMO2 has not committed to launching O2 TV and that it is unlikely to be announced as a new service before next year. The company recently registered the brand name as a trademark in this country.

Media and telecoms analyst Paolo Pescatore said he expected the company to make more of the “premium” O2 name, after struggles with Virgin Media’s brand, and that therefore “it would make sense to then offer TV under this brand”.

      VMO2 declined to comment.
