Initially advertised contract price different from actual contract price

I'd opted for the M350 Broadband Package with an advertised monthly cost of £28.99 which was also stipulated on the pre-contract agreement. However my first bill is showing a different rate of £66 a month. I would appreciate some help with this as I wouldn't want to have to pay £66 a month for my bill which is significantly more than what was advertised when I applied for the contract.

Exactly the same here. Have M350 contract information sheet and contract summary sheet both with £28.99 per month on them. Then I get a contract at £66 per month. Where the hell can you sign up online for £66/month? Called Customer Services and was offered £38 per month with a recurring £9.01 per month credit. I don't want to be relating this debacle next month to Customer Services adding a £9.01 credit into the mix. This is not acceptable. I will cancel my DD and contact the ombudsman if I don't get the £28.99 I signed up for honoured. To top it all I was accused that I didn't sign up correctly. How did I manage that? Bloody furious as I type this.

Apparantly my account is deadlocked as I was offered a resolution which I didn't accept. Well if I'm stuck with you for 18 months I won't be staying with you a single day longer. Already told my next door neighbour not to touch you with a barge pole. And will be telling everyone I can on Facebook the same.

  • I had the same sort of issue. I agreed a contract online and I noticed the first bill wasn't the same as I signed up for. I cancelled everything .

How did you manage to cancel? I presume you were out of the 14 day cooling off period. I signed up on 3rd May 2025 and assume my cooling off period ended on 17th May 2025.

  • I was still within the 14 day  cooling off period fortunately. I spotted the cost on the new contract. I did in the end agree a new 24 month contract but I am having problems with that too.

That doesn't surprise me. They're nothing but a bunch of f@*!wits.

Awaiting a PM from someone representing Vermin Media to step in and shed some light on how £28.99 suddenly becomes £66. Don't hold out any hope of an intelligent explanation.

Managed to speak to Retintions in the UK. Was told my £66 contract was before discounts. It took them a whole 18 hours to bugger up my future billing, that has to be a record even for Virmin Media. Anyway Daniel I'm putting my faith in you that your promise to have it sorted by Tuesday, issue a correct contract and phone me back won't disappoint.
