I'm not sure where the £9 option comes from, but the most immediate thought springing to mind is why the weeks delay between the apparent missed visit and your posting on here?
Is your TV service restored? This "general chatter" forum isn't generally monitored by staff, but the post can be moved if necessary.

It's part of homeworks add-on usually. You get priority engineer bookings for next day Vs non homeworks customers, if there are some available.

Good day, dear kind ‘replyee’ “japitts” (Very Insightful Person). This is Roger123 calling (it sounds like ‘Zed Cars’! You CANNOT image the time spent and wasted with these *‘appalling’ people! I notice that they have conveyed to you, as usual, the Half Truth (to very conveniently - fight you/me ‘tooth and nail' for any *compensation (what, here we must not converse! *Virgin Media don’t go there!). It was NOT a single missed Engineer’s visit, but as we had NO Television service from the 31/12/2024 up to including the 16/01/2025, *Virgin Media in their ‘haste to be seen as generous philanthropists’ AGREED to send out another Engineer for the 14/01/2025! Well, of course, THIS Engineer also failed to turn up! Yet another Engineer TURNED up, hallelujah, yes he was here finally on the 16/01/2025! With my attention mainly turned to looking after my very sick (84 years old) Wife with RSV Respitory Virus, on top of that I was CONSTANTLY in touch with ‘sick’ *Virgin Media asking for an Engineer! Go on, Herr Lutz Shuler, sue me! Just try! Roger123 and calling Roger and out!

Roger123 here again! ‘Mark as Solution’! Are you kidding? Will see ‘SOMEONE’ in Court (again!).

See https://www.virginmedia.com/help/broadband/homeworks
If it was homeworks then it's usually £9.99 per month based on a 30 day rolling monthly cost. After that you are free to discontinue the service by giving us 30 days prior notice.
40% off HomeWorks available to existing customers who choose HomeWorks and a speed tier increase on M50, M125, M250 and M350 Fibre Broadband only. Discounted price £6 per month. The cost of the speedtier increase is additional. Also available to existing M500 and Gig1 Fibre Broadband customers with no speed tier increase
Next Day Priority Service: Priority for available next day appointments vs other cable customers if appointment is required, subject to appointment availability. You must call contact centre during contact centre opening hours to get next day availability.
(With 1st January being a bank holiday I wouldn't expect any availability unless the customer is on the Vulnerability register)
The linked webpage also states, 'Next day technician service Having HomeWorks rushes you to the top of our engineer’s list for an appointment the next working day, if you’ve called up about a broadband issue that can’t be fixed over the phone.'
(The thread is regarding a TV issue and not broadband so agent shouldn't be offered next day appointment)
Aside from the above the OP should be due compensation for a missed engineer visit providing agent has noted the account accordingly.
There should also have been an entry for the appointment showing in /my-virgin-media/ under My Orders & Appointments.

I would be happy to take a further look into this for you but first I would need to confirm a few details via private message, please look out for my message and we can get started.
Kind Regards,

Good day, Herr Lutz Schuler (does he really exist or, as usual with *Virgin Media since the **02/10/2023, am I STILL talking to the wall?). Well, l’ll tell you. Firstly as you great Customers of *Virgin Media already know, *Virgin Media will try to ***‘PARRY’ (obviously a boxing term similar) complaints in a way that would make our beloved ***Cassius Clay (we also remember him as ***Muhhammat Ali - and ****fellow ****Parkinson’s ‘sufferer’, he FOUGHT bravely dear man) and ***FIGHT their (*Virgin Media’s) Customers in, yes here I come again, in a way that would have made our other greatest of heroes namely, the one and only Sir Winston Spencer Churchill, proud! The ‘pathetic’ response from *Virgin Media did NOT include the fact that we had no Television (no ‘Sir’ London Mayor’s fireworks, as usual no nothing (*Virgin Media as usual will now try and record and then 'wipe’ the TRUTH), i.e. NO Engineer on 01/01/2025 plus NO Engineer on the 14/01/2025! Funny thing, dear *Virgin Media Customers, is that in their GREED, *Virgin Media make you 'jump over hurdles’ (just like, say, the 'four ten' race at Uttoxeter!) just to get in touch having to contact some non-existent ‘name’ the latter of who wants your very personal ‘life insurance code’ to even discuss the very (not to be mentioned) complaint! What an 'illegally-run' JOKE *Virgin Media are and OFCOM (the Communications Regulator) and my Solicitors are both ‘girding their loins’ in readiness! Sue me Herr Schuler if you dare? ‘Ridiculously’ known Roger123 and 'Roger over and out’ from me.
