Email from Virgin saying I need to make a payment

I've been with Virgin for years and have paid with direct debit which usually goes out every month on the 5th or 6th of the month I received a email this morning saying I have an outstanding balance and I should pay it now ,giving me various ways to pay it. The payment does not go out of my bank for a couple of days so how can it be outstanding!!!!

They seem to have my details correct

I'm not happy about making an online payment!!

  • Same here, all details correct, account, amount etc, DD to go out 05 Nov. Has someone stolen a load of virginmedia customer information? I'm sure some people might just go ahead and pay it. 

  • Had exactly the same email today.    Last payment left bank account on the right day in October and next payment due on 5th November.

    Looking at billing details on my account and it confirms amount outstanding is £0.00

    Going to be a lot of people worrying unnecessarily.

      Can't understand why no one from VM has picked up on these posts and explained what is going on, they have a lot of angry customers.

  • We've got one as well. Just checked, no missing payments on the account. I can clearly see on my bank app that the payment is going out every month. Next payment date is the 5th of November. I'll keep a look out.

  • Add me to the list. Paid last month, due in three days time. Genuine all links and from addresses virginmedia.co.uk. So not a scam just some shoddy IT I guess. As you've all reported this and the auto chatbot irritant has put me in a queue I'll leave it to resolve itself. 

  • Had exactly the same thing this morning, all my details are correct, hopefully this is a **bleep** up by virgin and not some hacker accessing my account.

  • I had an email today asking me to make a payment for overdue payment. I pay by DD and the payment is not due to be taken from my account for at least tomorrow or the day after

      Exactly the same here, they have my account number and payment date and amount correct. Checked my bank account etc, not unpaid. I hope that Virginmedia hasn't had a load of customer info stolen!

      You're not the only one, seems there's a error somewhere down the line as a number of people including myself have asked the same. It's on another post.

  • Yup, me as well, payment not due until the 5th/6th. Some sort of mistake at their end but worrying to get an email like this.

  • I was just looking on here for this exact thing as I got this email today as well. I have a direct debit setup at the beginning of the month so I know it goes through okay. Just checked and nothing is outstanding. Seems strange everyone is getting this email.

    Just had exactly the same thing.  I've check with my bank and the payment left on time on 6th October, so it seems that someone has messed-up.

    It's annoying to get the first email in the first place, but I've tried two different numbers and a chatbot - all completely useless and unhelpful.
