Early disconnection fee but I am still a client!????
On 2nd April 2024 I received an email saying my M250 contract ends soon. The price had jumped up from £44 a month, to an increase in March to £48 and then at the end of my contract was going to jump up to nearly £74 a month. On the 13th April I got in contact with Virgin and asked to cancel my service horrified at these price increases. Seemingly we pay in arrears so the bill that was generated on the 18th April for May I was still obliged to pay, which I did at the out of contract rate of £73.98!
On the 1st May I decided to go back to Virgin and they took time to find me a better deal and I agreed to a new contract with their M350 broadband. BUT today I have received a bill that says I owe them an early disconnection fee of £358.30!!!!!!!
Firstly I was never disconnected!! Secondly I was at the end of my contract with the M250 service.
How on earth does this happen and how on earth do you get to speak to someone who actually looks at an account logically. Also at no stage was I EVER talked about a EDF, quite possibly because it wasn't relevant, so imagine my shock that I now have this horrendous bill.
Trying to call is a nightmare with the automated system or a call centre in India where they tell you what you already know, and seemingly can't transfer you to a complaints department or anyone else.
So what do I do now? This is so stressful and I am sure I am not alone at the anxiety this brings on. It is insane to be charged this HUGE amount of money, and I have a new contract with them. It is quite clearly a computer error but trying to get to speak to someone who can remove this charge is impossible!!
