Disconnection date?

Hi folks,

After attempting to contact VM to discuss cancellation via phone and Webchat, and going through the palaver of being on hold and then disconnected, I decided the foolproof(?) method of writing to them.

So I sent my notice of cancellation to the Sunderland address a couple of weeks ago, and tracked delivery, so I know they received it. My letter stated to take it as 30 days' notice of all services (Broadband + TV) but I asked for confirmation of my disconnection date and haven't received anything, and I can't see it anywhere on MyVM.

Given my experience with VM's 'customer service', I'm assuming anything could happen - from no disconnection at all to early disconnection, with perhaps a slim chance of actually disconnecting me when I expect it.

In the absence of any confirmation of your disconnection date, does anyone know whether it is safe to just take the date as the receipt of the letter as the beginning of the 30 days' notice? Or does anyone know if it's hidden anywhere on MyVM?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

  • Lo and behold, I've been disconnected, despite sending a letter giving a month's  notice dated Jan 15th. Minor inconvenience considering it gets me rid of VM for ever.

  • Hello davel0,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post here on the forums. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your disconnection request.

I'd be happy to take a further look into this for you but first I would need to confirm a few details via private message, please look out for my message and we can get started.
    Kind Regards,

So you sent a letter dated Jan 15th which was received, let’s say two days later, so you should have been disconnected on 16th February - I assume that VM will expect you to pay them up to that date.

Technically, what you ‘could’ do is to call VM and register a ‘complete loss of service’ for which they are obliged to pay you compensation, after all you are contracted to pay until 16th Feb and similarly they are obliged to provide a service up to that date.

But, I do get your point, the fact that you are prepared to ignore it just to ‘get me rid of VM for ever’, doesn’t say much about the company does it? On the other hand, the more times they get away with doing this, the more they will.

I haven't got time to sit on the phone for them to never answer or just hang up. On the flip side, finally being clear of them actually gave me a sense of relief, which was nice. 10/10 would recommend.
