Contract renewal/changes to package

Good morning,

Contract expires late May and the new offer presented both via text and through MyVirginMedia represents a substantial increase on what I am paying now and is not something I can afford.

I called a couple of days ago and the price available was the same as online.  If there was some downwards movement of note from VM against new price offered I would probably look to renew but otherwise I am faced with a choice of cancelling (14+ years customer) or substantially downgrading my package.  How close to my package end date can changes be made ie removal of certain elements?

Thanks

You will find it very difficult to remove part of a package, as many have found before. When you finally get to talk to a sales person they will offer some temporary discount to keep the existing package, or even an uprade like a speed increase to stay at the same price. We've all been there!

You may have to give in your 30 days notice to get a better deal. Check to see what other providers can offer.

Thanks for that.  Yes, in my experience VM are more likely to press you to take on more eg Volt rather than cut back but I’m at the stage where I’m more interested in streamlining what I have rather than the other way around.

      Hi MLH,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community.

If you would like us to discuss available renewal deals we can do so.

        Thanks Martin.

A further call to the Retentions team on Saturday 26 April was made.  No discounts available on my package apparently.  Are you suggesting that someone from the Forum team can ‘negotiate’?!  If so, please DM me.

i was also told that if I identified an alternative package with another provider I could give the go ahead and under the One Touch Switch arrangements I would not then need to contact VM to cancel as the new provider would arrange everything.  Is this the case with all other providers eg BT, Sky?
