Contract date not changed when moving

I took out a virgin media contract in September 2024, and moved house over the summer keeping Virgin as my phone and broadband supplier, and not changing my plan.

Having checked online, my contract says "duration 18 months" but with a start date from my move, rather than the original start date.

Unfortunately I will want to move away from Virgin when my contract comes to an end due to steadily rising costs I have been unable to negotiate down. Do I need to do anything now to ensure that my contract is ending in March 2026 as intended?

  • Thanks both for the advice! Unfortunately the account section shows 18 months from my move-in date rather than the original contract start date. Hopefully someone from VM can pick up - luckily I have the original email reassuring me that the contract end date would be unchanged.

      I can arrange for the contract length to be amended for you.

    If you have changed nothing, the new contract should finish at the same date as the old one. VM does this too often, so it's good that you checked. 

    Wait for a VM person to pick this up and offer to help. If that doesn't work you will have to make a formal complaint.

    Womble245​  The contract doesn't always show the end date in such circumstances, but the duration should run from the original start date not the moving date.  If you look at the Your Account section on the home page when signed into your account it should show the contract end date eg:

    Package

    Contract active

    You have broadband upgrade available

    Contract ends: 31st May 2026
