Can I upgrade mid-contract?

The sales advisor made the following claims:

  1. A) I can upgrade at any time during the 24-month contract.
    B) If I call the pick-up department after placing the order, they can switch me over to the new FTTP service, which is available in my area.

Question: How accurate are these statements?

Also, I have another question:
If I buy Virgin TV, I understand I will receive the Stream box. If I put the Virgin router into modem mode and use my own Netgear router, will Virgin Stream still work?

From what I understand, everyone will eventually be upgraded to FTTP. I'm currently with BT, but they’re charging me £65, which I can’t afford while unemployed

You should use the new OTS for switching providers.  Then VM will handle the switchover for you, or at least that's the theory.

As for upgrades, yes you can but it likely will then be a "new" 24 month contract, so extending your existing contract further.

The stream box should still work in modem mode, you may have to use VM's DNS servers however?

If you have legacy coaxial cabling in your home you cannot get VM's fibre as I believe that VM's back office systems are still not ready for this migration. And yes, everyone will be migrated to fibre but this will take many years to complete.
