360 box false pretences

My friend had an offer to swap her very ancient box (the long, thin one) for a 360. Thought it was a good idea because that antique was on its last legs. Now she’s been sent a new contract, which doesn’t take into account the discount that she had.
I’m strongly suggesting that she cancels within the 14 day cooling-off period, because I consider she has been very badly treated. And had that old box failed, she would have been supplied with a new box under the old contract and discount anyway.

    The legacy TiVo box you refer to runs TiVo-software, which is very recording-centric. Had it developed a fault, it would be replaced with a V6 which runs the same TiVo-software on a much quicker box.

    What your friend has been converted to, is TV360 - fundamentally not TiVo. It uses the same box as the V6 but runs Horizon-software which is very much about OnDemand & internet-services. Recording is available, but operates very differently to TiVo.

    Your friend's choice of TV box software should have nothing to do with whatever contract bundle they are on.

  • Thanks Steven. Got straight through to Retentions this morning, and speaking on her behalf, got the original discount reapplied. It’s now a 2 year contract FWIW.

      If a previous discount has been reinstated, that suggests a 14day backout of the new contract. In which case, there should be no reason for a new minimum term to apply - the previous one should be reinstated also.

      VM are now moving to 2year minimum-terms, but that should go hand-in-glove with a new package, and (most likely) new discounts.
