Action needed: We’re closing your email account

Loosing email account is only 5% of the issue.

How many accounts have your email address as account name? Yes you can still login to that account but you won't receive any communication. You can't update your email address for these, you have to create a new account with a new email address.

At this point you will loose access to your PayPal balance, your air miles, rewards accumulated, even your money! Imagine trying to converse with everyone to move assets held against your VM email address? Imagine the elderly who may not be IT literate trying to do this! VM - imagine worst case this winter if the elderly cannot access their assets?

I have well over 100 accounts with my email address as account name, it will take weeks to try to contact all of these!

Even if you can continue to use accounts that use your email address as account name, when you have to reset your password, which can be mandated following a cyber attack, you won't get the rest link by email!

    The 30 day notice letter is a small 'improvement' on VM's previous approach which was just to delete the mailbox without warning.

    If you are not currently a VM broadband customer, VM will close down the email address. If you are currently a VM broadband customer you may have an option to save the email address.

    A VM person should reply to your topic, usually within a few days.

      Welcome back to our community forums and sorry to hear you feel this way about your email getting deleted. As mentioned by goslow Typically when a cable account is closed, we aim to close any associated email accounts within 90 days as seen here However sometimes these emails can exist for longer up until it is removed manually. We truly do apologise for any inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, once actioned, we can not restore the mailbox.
