Contract renewal 2024
Hi, im not sure if anyone can help, but I’m just after a bit of advice / guidance really. i have been with VM for just under 4 years, using for broadband only. I’m currently on the 1 gig plan and my contract is due for renewal in Aug. I have received my renewal offer email and this is slightly more than I am currently paying. I tried on several occasions to use the online chat system to see if any deals available, but got disconnected on both tries after a lengthy process of transferring and waiting. So I tried ringing the 0345 454 1111 number and got through to retention’s and a very unhelpful gentleman. Ive broken down below the info I have on prices etc; curreently paying 46.24 Renewal email offer 48.24 Retentions phone call offer 62.00 New customers are being offered the same package for 40,00 or 39.99 with an o2 sim. sky are offering a similar speed (900mb) for 43.00 I raised a complaint after the call, as I found the agent to be belittling and at times condescending, but this doesn’t appear to be very helpful either. VM emailed this in reply, “unfortunately, we will not be able to offer the same package as the new customer because they get a promotional discount at the point of joining Virgin Media, as you would have gotten while joining us and post that it will be a standard discount for the customers”. Although I understand this principle, it doesn’t really give the impression that VM have any interest in retaining customers or appreciate loyalty. What should I do? Leave and rejoin in 18 months? Take the slightly higher renewal offer and then another price increase in April? I normally would cancel and move to another supplier, but due to a family members current health condition, I really can’t risk being without any service during switch over and could do without the hassle at the moment to be honest. sorry for moaning, any help very much appreciated. thanksSolved2.2KViews1like6CommentsRenewal offer was not met, 264mb for 24 pounds but I am paying 55 pounds
Got offered 264mb for 24 pounds so that I wouldn’t leave virgin media, now they refuse to give it to me. Hello, we had to move houses in may 2024 and I decided it was a good chance to get a new contract with another provider as my contract with virgin media had finished. I decided to open a live chat and talk to them about ending my services. However, I got an offer which I couldn’t resist. I got told I would get 264mb for 24 pounds if I were to stay. I said yes and I got told that I had to contact once I had gotten to the new house. Once I arrived at the new address, I contacted them 5 times and each time they said they couldn’t match that offer, each time with different reasons such as they just can’t, it hasn’t been a month which means that I can’t get a discount, it hasn’t been 48 hours so I can’t get a discount… They even put me on a ghost 7 hour long waiting queue. One day I realised that I suddenly had much higher speeds than my previous M125 contract. So I contacted virgin media as they had given me the 264mb but it was for 54 pounds a month. Once I got someone to agree that I was given a deal and that 48 hours had passed, I got told that I would get the updated price within the next few days. Yesterday I just got an email saying that I had no contract with virgin media and that my current price was 54 per month. I have tried contacting but I literally got put in another blank queue which I was not going to keep waiting in like last time. What can I actually do. I have submitted a complain and I am waiting for their replies. Sadly I couldn’t submit any of the screenshots while filing the complaint.582Views1like5CommentsVirgin's inflexibility with pricing for loyal customers
I've been with VM for around 20 years, and every contract renewal have a similar conversation about pricing for existing customers and why they continue to penalise me over new customers. This year I wanted to drop my landline (it's not a landline anymore so pointless really), stop the TV service (which I have never actually used) and go from 500MB to 1GB service. The cost for a new customer taking 1GB broadband only is £42 a month, for 18 months. When I called Virgin, the cheapest they could get it for me would be £68 a month! Even to renew my current package would be £51 a month, which is still more than the new customer and I would need to take an 02 contract out as well at a minumum of £5 per month. Sadly I have given my notice to Virgin, I cannot agree with a 50 per cent penalty for existing customers, but I really do not understanrd this instransigence. On the other hand, my area does not get any other FFTTP until Dec 2026, so I might end up takiung out a new contract in my wife's name, I assume VM does not care about that, as long as they get the business?4.7KViews5likes8CommentsPricing Increase Notification
Got an e-mail notification of Ts & Cs changing in Nov 2023. It identifies price increases in Apr 2024 of RPI+3.9%. I am only 4 months into an 18 month fixed price deal. Will my contract subscription increase in Apr 2024 or when the contract ends in Oct 2024?Solved12KViews0likes65CommentsWhat *Should* Broadband ONLY Cost for an Existing Customer?
We no longer watch much TV and stream 90% of what we do watch & are planning to just use Freeview and Broadband once our contract expires. That being the case what should we be expecting to pay for M500 (or even 1Gig) Broadband only? I honestly (and I cant stress this enough) HATE bartering, and we don't really have any other options for decent speed internet in our area so threatening to just leave fills me with dread, and I know they will try to take the proverbial & do not have clear and honest pricing. Just a ballpark would be good. We currently pay £67 (would rise to £99 in Sep) for: All we want going forward is M500 Broadband, no TV and no Phone (we haven't used a Landline in over 10 years yet they constantly force you to have one, or at least they did) ThanksSolved4.2KViews0likes13Comments
