Modem Mode stopped working since Tuesday's outage (Hub 5x)
I managed to painstakingly get it to work a few weeks ago with my Unifi Express 7 but last night after a brief outage it has stopped passing a WAN IP to the Unifi Router. I've spent hours and hours trying every variant of the Reddit threads and forum posts on how to enable it and it WILL NOT for the life of me pass an IP Address to the WAN Port once it's in Modem Mode. What I did last time was the following: Connect the Unifi Router to Hub Port 1. Connected to the Hub portal 192.168.0.1 via a laptop connected to the Unifi Router LAN. Disabled DMZ, WiFi, Firewall, UPnP and DHCP. When I disable DHCP it annoyingly drops the lease on the Unifi Router so I then have to connect my laptop directly to the 10gig service port on the Hub and change its IP to be under the 192.168.0.x subnet. I know of no other way to connect to it (other than forcing a static internal IP on the Unifi WAN port which also fails). Enable Modem Mode and unplug the laptop from the service port before it reboots. Not sure if the laptop unplugging is what made it work but I've tried both removing and leaving it in today. Power Cycle the Hub after it reconfigures. I am completely lost and it has failed constantly the last few days.152Views0likes7CommentsGetting under 100mbps through TPlink router plugged into Hub 3
I recently purchased a TP Link AC1200 as I was unhappy with the wifi reliability of the Virgin Hub 3. I pay for the 250Mb Virgin package and prior the installation of the router I was getting almost that speed through Hub3 Wifi (albeit with an unreliable connection). Since connecting the TP Link router to the Hub 3 I am now getting under 100Mb from the wifi through the new router. I understand this is because the Hub3 network ports only provide a 100Mb speed therefore this is the max i would be able to get through the connected TP Link router. What would be my best way forward to get the speed that I am paying for (up to 250Mb) through the TP Link router, as I want the speed plus the reliable connection.Solved2.2KViews0likes10CommentsLan connection not working so I have no heating.
I had a nightmare with BT/EE for 5 months. There is a local issue they cannot fix and thousands have left them in my town. So I dumped my contract and joined Virginmedia. Internet is great, but my LAN ports do not work. I have internet heating that works from an app from a unit that plugs into a LAN ports, it’s worked fine in every single modem, but not this one, as I’m severely disabled and sometimes cannot get out of bed I need my heating app as the thermostat is elsewhere. The engineer did not bother plugging this back into the modem. I did, none of the LAN ports work, I have no heating, I’m freezing and the ‘Indian’ contact centre didn’t give too hoots and told me they will send someone out on Monday, great accessibility support guys…………not impressed……so I guess I’ll just freeze to death till my carer gets here then 😳854Views0likes16Commentsxgs-pon with own router...
Well... Wish I was advised of this during signup. Now cancelled BT which I was happily using (albeit without symmetrical 1Gbps upload), constant 0-8ms ping on games such as Fortnite or to Cloudflare DNS/Adguard DNS and a stable speed over to the "upgrade"..... Can't use my own router reliably, double-NAT, no modem mode (could use PPPoE auth with BT and Sky[Sky needs DHCP Option 61 enabled]), consistent 5-8% packet loss to GeforceNOW (plus the extra 6-10ms latency...), fluctuating download/upload speeds mainly affecting the upload (burst: 700Mbps then drops steadily until the end of the test sometimes as low as 300Mbps). BT had a speed guarantee of 700Mbps, what is it here? Is there any chance of using my own router without their router also being in "router" mode? I've tried everything I can think of to try and get it working and now I refuse to spend anymore time on it when the whole network was fine prior to moving to Virgin xgs-pon. The whole product seems rushed through the door so as to not lose out with new customer take up in new areas... When is this going to change? If it isn't in the next month can I still cancel or what because this is the worst FTTP implementation I've used....?6.6KViews0likes2Comments
