I have put up with it for the past 4 or 5 years (reported but never been resolved) but this year with the extremely hot spell we are having our phone is really playing up so I have just reported it in another thread. Landline dead when hot weather - ongoing for 4 or 5 years Every summer when we have the hot weather our landline randomly stops working normally mid afternoon to late evening. It only seems to happen on the really hot days and has happened for many years and I think I have reported it every year that it happens. By the time an engineer comes out it is normally working although there was one occurrence when an engineer did come out on a hot day when it was not working and it was confirmed that the fault was external to our property as the line was dead in the green cabinet. The engineers don't want to investigate and suggest waiting until the change over to the new system that uses the VM hubs. We have not really pushed to get this problem resolved as lets face it, we only get a handful of really hot days however the past month with the current hot spell our phone has been playing up with it being dead nearly everyday from mid afternoon onwards. Earlier in the year, I was contacted about switching over to the new phone system, but as we have two people over 75 that rely on the land line they won't switch us over. But, you can see the irony here is that the new phone system would be more reliable than our current land line especially over the past couple of weeks! Can someone please get back to me. Either an engineer needs to investigate and work out where the real problem is or our transfer to the new phone system needs to be expedited. Re: 5GHz channel keeps dropping I've just had a problem where I lost the 5Ghz signal. I discovered that rebooting the hub would bring up the 5Ghz signal for around 30 seconds (allowing devices to connect) before it would disappear again. Rebooted 3 or 4 times (including once where I physically switched the hub off and back on using the power switch) and it did the same each time. I tried disabling and re-enabling the 5Ghz wifi and re-booting again but that had no effect. In desperation I disabled channel optimisation and clicked apply and then immediately re-enabled channel optimisation and clicked apply and without re-booting the 5Ghz wifi appeared and all devices connected. It has now been solid and working fine for 10 minutes. Re: Contract renewed but account still says out of contract No date other than the date it was created i.e. the 17th December. The e-mail from the web team states: "As you've changed your package part way through your billing cycle, your next bill will feature only part of the charges for your new service. You'll pay the full amount you were quoted every month after that." From this I assumed the change had happened on the 17th December. Contract renewed but account still says out of contract I renewed my contract online 17th December as the renewal price was a saving of 25% (so would be silly not too take it). I received the pre-contracts e-mail and the order e-mail (from the web team) so as far as I was aware I had nothing else to do and it would just happen. I have received my latest bill today and it is still the same old price where I was expecting it to contain partial month charges (with the next bill at the new price). Logging into my account it still says I am out of contract and offering me options to renew. Can someone please look into what is going on and what has happened to my new contract? Re: E4 EPG "To Be Announced" for 21/08/24 Sometime Tuesday evening or early hours of Wednesday morning someone somewhere in the VM network (or perhaps the EPG provider) fixed it. And obviously Thursday there would be little point in checking it anyway as the problem was with Wednesday (the day before). Series link options and behaviour that is the same as V6. Changes are apparently in the pipeline for this. 2. Wishlists - these are the most useful feature available on any platform and Virgin should be implementing and promoting this excellent feature. I would argue it’s actually better than having series links to be honest. For instance one of the wishlists I have setup for my father is to record all live football matches on any channel that involve West Bromwich Albion. How would you do that on 360? This is a TiVO exclusive feature that cannot be replicated without VM parting with a considerable amount of money. Unlikely. 3. Mini boxes - ludicrous that you can only pause for a few minutes. I have 3 V6 boxes so I would have to have an agreement that I would be able to keep all 3 boxes so that we can pause for a long time, record locally and still be able to access the recordings on the other boxes pretty much as we do at the moment. Again, this cannot be solved unless VM moves to a two master box solution. With VM on the move to full fibre & away from traditional cable services, the ability to record locally will eventually disappear anyway. We are already getting more & more FAST streamed channels, that while being on the EPG are IP based & not recordable by V6 or V360. Interesting https://patents.justia.com/patent/9571892 I don't get how this generic feature can be patented and I'm sure TiVo didn't invent this in 2015? But if so then surely that means there are lots of streaming apps and other recording devices that should also not be using this functionality? E4 EPG "To Be Announced" for 21/08/24 No programme information just says "To Be Announced" only for E4 HD and only on Wednesday. All other days for the next couple of weeks are populated. E4+1 schedule is fine for Wednesday. Re: Is it possible to revert to TiVo ? I think this is a national issue. Mine is doing this along with 527 and 104 all pixelating and breaking up. Also reports from Edinburgh area that 103 and 104 are breaking up. For mine, I've checked diagnostics (on V6) and there are no RS errors indicating its a problem with the broadcast /transmission and not a local signal issue. Update: Service status on the app is reporting the breaking up issue and it now appears to have been resolved at least on my setup. Re: Is it possible to revert to TiVo ?
