Re: Access to Thunderbird suddenly fails Glad I'm not alone in (rarely) experiencing such an issue. I copied the password (4 words) from the Thunderbird settings, so it should be OK. Fingers crossed! Re: Access to Thunderbird suddenly fails I've had just the same problem, since yesterday afternoon. It has happened occasionally over the several years with this Thunderbird setup, but normally disappears either with a restart or overnight; not so today. After reading the above exchange, I ran the Curl command and received the "235 2.7.0 SMTP350 Authentication successful" response. So this means that my PC can connect with Virgin Media Mail. I can also use VM webmail (which uses a different password). That would seem to point to a Thunderbird problem, but I'm not aware of a very recent update, and if it were so, wouldn't ALL Thunderbird+VM users be suffering? I should add that my VM email address is a legacy one (ntlworld.com) I'm inclined to wait for another day or two before fiddling with settings (as the OP found)! But I'm fascinated to understand WHY this intermittent issue arises. Re: Unable to whitelist emails from a genuine sender I am in the bizarre position of having my 'Go on, have a look' emails from THIS forum marked as SPAM by Virgin Media! As indicated above, there seems to be no way to stop this (I already have ALL mails delivered to my inbox, even when marked <SPAM>, but I'd really like to change that to get rid of the real spam which seems to be proliferating recently. I can't do that unless I can reverse this (and a few other) wrong categorisations. Is there really NO way of doing so? Do others also have their VM Community Support emails marked as <SPAM>? Re: sky sports app through virgin keeps going blurry on pc This problem does not go away, just because nothing is done! It is as bad as ever. Re: Virgin TV 360 - what I can’t do now! That's quite a list of negatives! Perhaps I shouldn't take up their offer to 'upgrade'. I do have 2 queries though: Would my existing recordings remain accessible? Is the claimed 4k resolution actually available on ANY broadcast channels (without additional payment)? Or just BBC iPlayer? Re: sky sports app through virgin keeps going blurry on pc Well said DazzyL You have reported exactly what I (and many others) have told Virgin over several years now - and all we get is obfuscation. As you say it is quite clearly Sky's problem - and Virgin just will not address it with them. At the very least, they should be doing so in order to negotiate a hefty discount on their terms for inadequate service! I wonder if it is deliberate action/inaction by Sky to try to push subscribers from Virgin to Sky directly (at a higher margin). Interesting that you mention problems with Football today, as I experienced probably the worst performance ever today - on the Sky F1 channel, right at the (exciting) start of the Austin Grand Prix. Whereas loss of resolution usually lasts for around 15 seconds (bad enough), on this occasion it was in minutes, at least for the first part of the race. It is uncanny how it particularly affects programmes that are inevitably very popular - perhaps there's a connection..... PLEASE PLEASE Virgin - pick up the ball and run with it to Sky - no more time-wasting and shirking your responsibilities - get on with some ACTION. And report back on the outcome here. Re: sky sports app through virgin keeps going blurry on pc Just to confirm, that you have no other applications or sites open on the device at the time you're watching, like a copying tool such as snipping tool or a screen recorder? Certainly not - just Gmail perhaps. It's most unsatisfactory that you don't get any response to these reports from Sky - why should that be? I can't imagine that they would reply to me! When you say 'at our level', can you refer the matter upwards to someone in authority who WOULD be able to get a response from them? Yesterday's Spa Grand Prix was a seriously bad example of the problem - it seemed to be worse during the race itself, compared with the build-up and after-show parts of the programme. Perhaps that points to the issue being an inability to cope with the technical requirements of dealing with demand from the peak number of users at one time - eg server capacity or 'pipe' size. Could you get someone suitably technical to consider this and post a reasoned response? Re: sky sports app through virgin keeps going blurry on pc Matthew TV delivery is fine. As I said, it loses resolution significantly (to much worse than SD - captions unreadable) every 5-10 minutes for 15-30 seconds. This is entirely in line with the earlier complaints in this thread (PLEASE READ IT) - and the screenshot already posted is very typical of my experience. As I have asked before, how were all the earlier complaints dealt with by Sky? Re: sky sports app through virgin keeps going blurry on pc Absolutely - just Sky Sports exhibits this problem - quite consistently..... just like all the complainants above.
