Retired Forum member?
Hello I had a private chat with Sabrina_B in December about porting my BT number to Virgin. We weren't quite ready at the time, but she suggested that when we were I chat with her directly so that I didn't have to start over. Her user name now has (Retired) after it. Assuming this means what it sounds like, would someone else be able to pick up on the chat or open a new chat for me please? Thanks.101Views0likes20CommentsRequested phone number to be ported, called twice and it still hasn't been ported. HELP
Switched over to Virgin Media at the end of October.. had requested via the online website when signing up that our landline phone number be ported over from Sky. Got a text a few days later saying about "your new Virgin phone number is xxxxxxx" and I called Virgin immediately saying hwo we had requested that we keep our old phone number, the operator said he would request that for us. The hub delivery came on the 5th of November, couldn't set it up as we had no virgin box on the wall and the old cable was needing replaced, got an engineer out on Tuesday 11th November who installed it and when he set up the hub and phone line, I tested it and it was still linked to the new number so had to call a second time to ask about the number being ported and was ensured that the request had gone through for the port.I also dont't see why they're billing us from the 5th when I thought the first month was meant to be free but alsothat aside, we didnt't actually get to use any services until the 11th after an engineer installed it - 6 days later. It's now Friday and the number STILL hasn't been ported through. I'm scared we're going to lose our phone number at this rate, never had this bother in all the years we've switched between companies. I have a lot of patience and even I'm frustrated by this. I tried to call again today and can't even get through to a person to talk. Can someone please help?34Views0likes1CommentHow do I keep my landline number
Hi My landline/TV/Broadband contract terminates and I will be disconnected in 4 weeks. What do I need to do to keep my landline number? When I spoke to the agent he didn't mention anything about this and I didn't think to ask. Is it like changing your mobile phone contract - do I need a code to give to the new provider? I know I should call 150 and ask, but it is such a chore and I always find these forums to be easier. Cheers. After many years with Virgin I'm moving abroad and so I'd like to cancel all my services (broadband+ and phone) but I would also like to port my phone number to a VOIP provider so that I'll still be able to check on it from abroad in case someone calls me on that number (rare nowadays but who knows). What is the correct procedure to be able to do so? Reading other discussions it seems that I should just cancel the services and then, during the 30days notice period I should activate the portability request from the new VOIP provider. Is this right? Can anyone from Virgin confirm it? Unfortunately most other messages are from people moving to other UK providers but in my case I need to cancel the broadband for good. Many thanks, Charlie161Views0likes4CommentsLandline number not ported
Hello, I switched my provider from Sky to Virgin on the 3rd January and have landline, TV and broadband package. On installation I was surprised to hear that I would have a temporary phone number until my existing phone number was ported. The engineer said this would take 2 - 14 days however this was not communicated to me at all when I agreed to the package. My phone number has still not ported. When phoning the number, it says this number is not recognised or it is unallocated. I run a business from home and my landline is used. It is on all my marketing materials and stationary and therefore I really need my previous number back and don't want it to be lost. Please could someone look into this for me? I have tried calling but was told it was scheduled to go through on the 13th January, which has obviously not happened. Thank you89Views0likes1CommentPorting a BT landline number to Virgin
Hello - I know there are threads on this but. am also having no luck taking my BT number to Virgin; as per other community users, both BT and Virgin are claiming each other has to start the process.... leaving me in the middle getting annoyed! Can anyone please assist with a foolproof method of doing this? Many thanks David441Views0likes3CommentsPorting number out of Virgin - End of Contract
I'm looking to leave Virgin (Broadband and Home Phone) after many years and moving to a new FTTP provider in my area. I've just given notice to cancel and services end on 14th June and I'll be porting my Landline over to the new provider. The agent advised that he has "opened" the landline number for the new provider to claim and this will be open for 90 days. He mentioned that if the number isn't claimed by the new provider within 90 days then I would be charged £19 per month. I'm trying to decide on an install date with the new provider and the porting process takes up to 2 weeks. If the porting was to start on 10th June and take 2 weeks, would my number still be available for the new provider to claim even though my services are due to end on the 14th of June (as the agent says it would be availble for 90 days). Would I be charged if the porting was completed after the service end date of 14th June or would there be no charge as long as it's complete within 90 days as the agent advised? I recently ordered a package phone and broadband at the start of January. I was told it will take 7 days to port my landline number from Vodafone. So i took the 12th January as my installation date. I made the lady aware that i use my landline for my business and it is diverted to my mobile as i am a sole trader. On the 12th January, i got my broadband hub through the post. The broadband was up and running but they had given me a new number. I rung virgin again and asked what was going on. THEY HAD NOT EVEN REQUESTED TO PORT THE NUMBER FROM VODAFONE OR EVEN TAKING OVER THERE BROADBAND SO I HAD 2 PACKAGES NOW. She then requested the port from vodafone and to take over my services from them. I was told this would be completed on the 22nd January (today). Today morning i called myself from the virgin landline and it called my number from the number i was porting so i thought all good. I rung virgin to activate my call divert and when she asked me for my number, i gave my number that was ported and she said thats not the right one. THE NEW NUMBER FROM VIRGIN WAS BACK ON FOR SOME REASON. I called myself again from my virgin landline and it was the new number from virgin and not the number that was meant to be ported (although this was not the case a few hours earlier). Now they are investigating what is going on and my number that should have been ported shows as "number not valid" when i try calling it. What could have gone wrong? I CANNOT afford to lose my number and i am now losing business due to this problem. Any help would be much appreciated as i need this sorting out ASAP.3.1KViews0likes17Comments
