In May 2022 I renewed my contract for a new 18 month contract and took advantage of a Volt O2 SIM and free broadband upgrade. This would have been due to expire in November 2023
In March 2023 I renewed my Virgin contract early because I had another good offer but when I renewed the renewal I chose was only for broadband and landline. My O2 part of the original contract ended in November 2023 as it should have done and I cancelled the 02 SIM.
I was told I could keep my speed upgrade beyond November 2023 and up to my new renewal date which is in September.
In my Virgin account there is an offer for a new 18 month renewal that is landline and Volt broadband with a continued speed upgrade.
My question is, if I accept that am I going to be signing up to a new O2 contract or am I genuinely being offered a Volt package renewal without having to sign up to 02 as well.

Hi paulguk1
Thanks for your post!
It's strange that you have received another offer for a Volt package advertising another speed upgrade, as usually you're only eligable for one speed upgrade the first time you sign up for Volt. If you then were to renew the same Volt deal or sign up for another Volt deal, you wouldn't receive another speed boost. However this might be because you changed to non-Volt package in 2023.
Our Volt bundles specifically require an O2 SIM to be linked to your cable services, whether that be a new SIM we order for you at the time or if you want to link an existing O2 SIM to the account.
Have you looked into the specific details of this offer via your online account? Is there no mention of an O2 SIM at all?

I'm kind of in the same position. On a 30 day rolling contract and in my offers is a new price for 18 months. I took over my dad's VM account as he passed away and we cancelled his O2 account because we didn't need it. In my offers it states -
"Choose this deal and keep your current Virgin Media plan without losing anything."
Does this mean that you will not send out a new 02 sim and we are just keeping the VM side the same?
Further to the question above, if I recontract, does that mean I'll keep the higher speed as that's what I've still got since cancelling the 02 contract.

I also get that message in the offer.
"Choose this deal and keep your current Virgin Media plan without losing anything."
I no longer have an O2 SIM and I went out of contract last November. The only reason I am still showing as being on a Volt contract is because I was told I would be able to until my renewal.
There is no where in the new offer that states I will be signing up to a new O2 SIM contract but I remember I was billed separately by them before and so am wary of what I’m signing up to as I don’t want an O2 contract. If I decide to renew in September I just want BB and landline. I’ve noticed I can have super fast BT fibre where I live now so I will have to get a better offer to stay with Virgin.

Beth,
This is the message that I get in the offer.
"Choose this deal and keep your current Virgin Media plan without losing anything."

Hi paulguk1
Thanks very much for getting back to me - apologies for my delayed reply.
I do apologise about any confusion caused with this particular offer, however it looks like there might be an error with the advertisement as to be eligible for Volt benefits, you would need to have an active O2 SIM linked. This is something I have fed back.
We do offer non-Volt packages which don't require a SIM to be taken out with the services. Can you see any other packages that you're interested in?
We cannot help with package changes/upgrades from here we're afraid, but if you give us a call on 0345 454 1111 / 150 we'd be more than happy to perform a package review for you and go through all of your options.

Beth,
My current package is VM350 (M250 with free upgrade to M350) and anytime landline. If I decide to renew I would be looking to downgrade to M250 and anytime landline as I don’t really need M350 unless the difference between the 2 was minimal cost.
I can have full fibre to my house now though and there are some good offers available to switch out. My 30 day countdown to my current contract ending starts on 17 August.
