V6 box pixelates and freezes on playback

LobusWobbles
Tuning in

My V6 box has recently started to freeze and pixelate when playing back recordings. I thought it might be something to do with work being carried out on our area by Virgin, but that has been completed for a couple of weeks now. It is also difficult to rewind recordings sometimes and it just won't do it. Live TV is ok.

We have rebooted the box on numerous occasions, reset the WiFi router, checked all connections and the problem persists.

It has also been reluctant to record certain  channels, mainly ITV1. We set it to record and it tells us there is a programme there in My Shows, but when we go to play it, it says we don't subscribe to that channel.

Have I got to set an afternoon aside to try and speak to someone on the phone or is there something else I can try?

Thanks.

Carol

The pixellation - live TV being OK proves your incoming signal as fine, broadcast TV doesn't use the internet so rebooting your router is futile. Try pausing live TV for a short time and watch it delayed - this is also a recording and uses the hard drive in the exact same way. If this pixellates and breaks up, it's a very good sign of hard drive problems - if so, this can't be repaired and will ultimately mean your V6 needs replacing.

Refusal to play recordings from channels you can view live is unusual, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's another symptom of HDD issues. Test the pause and go from there.
