I know that ITVX does not alow you to FF through adverts but you can FF through the program content. On Virgin media live TV. I can not EVEN FF through the program content. Do I need to pay £5.99 a month to be able to do this?

Live TV is a live broadcast, so you cannot fast forward to something in the future because it hasn’t been broadcast yet. You should be able to fast forward any recordings of a channel though.

In addition, ref ITV-X... Maxit customers can FF through adverts, but on any other package this is restricted and you need to have an ITV premium subscription to do so.

It's a perfect example of why recording programmes is always preferable - as mentioned above, you are free to fast-forward and rewind to your hearts content, upto live broadcast.

That is not what I am saying. ITV broadcasts a program say Emmerdale. I rewind 1 minute but can not fast farward that one minute. THis is program content not adverts.

ITVX allows you to fast forward through program content but not adverts.

With Virgin. I can not fast farward anything that has been broadcast. PERIOD.

In addition, I can not record on virgin only add as a watch list. This is the same.

With SKYQ I can record rewind and fast farward anything on any channel including ITV.

Hi @Pablo2000

Welcome to the community forums

Sorry to hear of your concern when you're using fast forward on programmes. Does this only happen on ITV channels when you rewind or do you find this happens on other channels?

Is it Live TV or recordings you have this issue?

Does exiting the channel and coming back to the channel allow you to resume watching at the broadcasted time or is it still as far back as you rewound it?

Here to help 🙂

Hi @Pablo2000

You've posted in the V6 forum, but I noticed you've only just joined the community.

Are you a new VM customer, and if so can you confirm which set top box you have.

(The V6 boxes haven't been provided to new customers for a couple of years now.)

New customers receive either a TV360 box which has a hard drive and recording features.  If a new customer with a 360 box  orders multiroom, then only the main box has a hard drive. The secondary box is a mini 360 box (about half the size as it doesn't have a hard drive)

New customers on full fibre (those in XG-PON areas) will only receive the Stream box which is IP based and thus  doesn't have recording capabilities.

I think you may have the Stream box. Both the Stream box and the TV360 box have a voice button on the TV remote control which is oblong in shape. The older V6 box, which comes with a peanut shaped remote control  doesn't have a voice function.

Well that is odd as I had a rep who came in to discuss signing up to VM. I was currently with talk talk. and had SKYQ. I was told it was a V6. This is a picture of the router label but the streaming box is the same as the picture above with the remote control. Is it the router I need to change? I think it is replacing the streaming box with a TV box and HDD. If I do have a TV360 box, this is the label on it.

I was told on this forum that you could record programs. This must require a HDD or a cloud based system.

TiVo & V6 were withdrawn for new customers several years ago, the reference to "Hub settings" in your picture tells me that's a wireless router not a TV box.

The reply above yours shows photos of the various current models.

You posted a picture of the VM 5x hub, not a picture of a V6 box.

Since you have a hub 5x then you won't have either a V6 or a TV360 box - you will have been supplied with the VM Stream box which works over the internet.   The Stream box doesn't have a hard drive so you can't record programs.

You can't fast forward through live content, as indicated in an earlier post by @nodrogd,  'Live TV is a live broadcast, so you cannot fast forward to something in the future because it hasn’t been broadcast yet'
