Hi I have a query re the set up of multi 360 TV system.
I understand that you need coax running to all boxes on the system, my question is can i have 5-6 points installed and have a "portable" box so I can move it dependent on where it is needed ?
Many thanks

VM will only install coaxial points in one location per box. Installing what amounts to a distribution system would have a detrimental effect on the signal levels available at your property, so wiring is kept to a minimum.

Thank you for taking the time to reply it is appreciated.
The 3 points that will be used for the majority of the time are literally the furthest points apart, so the cabling would need to be in place regardless - would adding 2-3 extra points in that line have a negative effect ?

Hi @Neonik1843
As @nodrogd has already advised, VM won't provide any additional points, VM will only provide one coxial point per box. If you have two 360's then VM will provide coaxial two points, if you have three 360's then VM will provide three coaxial points Also VM won't provide more than three 360 boxes due to signal levels. Any variance on signal levels would also detrimentally affect other VM users in your vicinity.

If you did have extra unused connections the signal would have to be checked and balanced between all of them and each one would need a terminator connected to stop noise ingress into the system which would also need transferring every time you moved the box or boxes which I think might get neglected occasionally.

Every time a cable is split there is attentuation of around 3.5 dB per output port. Suppose there is an initial 3-way split, let's call it A, B and C for the hub and 360 and the C leg is split into D and E for the 360 minis. You've now got attentuation of about 17.5 dB which can be a lot if the signal strength isn't particularly good coming into your house. You won't get any more live sockets but if you need to move a mini into another room later a tech can run a cable there and remove the redundant cable from the splitter and thus keep the number of output ports to five.
