Unable to change tv settings

I've paired the virgin 360 remote successfuly after my tivo box was updated. Everything seems fine apart from I now am unable go back into the tv's settings menu to update any settings. Specifically I have auto turnoff after 6 hours but I can't dismiss the notification with the virgin remote and only accepts the ok button on the tv remote. I want to turn off the auto shutdown on the tv but I guess I need to unpair the birgin 360 remote and configure back to the tv.

What is the best approach for this?

Hi @Jackosteve

If you have the TV itself set to shutdown after 6 hours and want to change that setting then you would need to use the actual TV remote.

You should be able to use the TV remote settings button  to bring up the TV's settings and manouvre from there to chnage the TV's standy time.

If you've set up One Power on the 360 then you should be able to use the button in the bottom right  just above the blue coloured button of the 360 remote to switch HDMI ports to any other devices, including your normal TV and manouvre the TV settings from there.

If it's the 360 standby timer that you want to change then press Home on the 360 - then Settings > System > Standby Timer. (When on the Home screen you might need to press the 360's directional button UP to access the navigation menu at the top of the screen)

If you turn off the 360 can you still not access your TV's settings using the TV's remote.

You are a star. Didnt realise I needed to change the av input to the basic TV (which has no physical cable plugged in!) and has the fuzzy black and grey background with a screeching sound).

Changed the av input using virgin remote, pressed settings on the tv remote that brought up the settings menu, changed auto tv standby to off and will check all OK. I'm sure it will be.

I updated the tibo box with new remote a few months ago and it's been annoying me every time I had to use the TV remote to stop the auto standby off notification.

I’m having the same problem. The auto shutdown message appears, but I can’t get it to disappear, even when I press ok like it says to do. The Tv then countsdown and shuts off.  I’ve tried changing the setting to active and then fast, even rebooted the box but it won’t fix it.

Hi Madscally 👋 welcome to the community! Thank you for joining this thread.

It sounds as though the issue you are having is with a setting specific to your TV rather than the Virgin TV Box.

You can find more information on the Virgin TV remote, including instructions on how to reset and pair it here 👉 How to use my Virgin Media TV remote | Virgin Media Help - it may also be worth having a look at the settings on your TV via your main TV remote. If you need to un-pair and then re-pair your Virgin TV remote you will have all the instructions needed in the link posted above.

Hopefully this will resolve any issue. Let us know how you get on!

If not, and you are still having issues it may be a good idea to list the make and model of the TV so the community can offer further support (as it is a 3rd party piece of equipment.)

Wishing you all the best. 🌞
