Tivo V6 red bar day after 360 update

I updated my existing V6 box to 360 yesterday and all appeared to go well. This morning when I got up I noticed that the V6 box had a red bar on the front instead of the usual white bar. I therefore have no TV service. I have unplugged the box and left it for a minute and then pugged back in the fuzzy screen appears for a brief moment then goes black. The red bar is still there, what can I do now?

An update:

I checked the virgin media website regarding the lights on the V6 box and discovered by pressing the 360 power button on the remote, the red bar changed to white. So all now seems ok.

As an aside, now that you have converted your V6 into a TV360, it's not referred to as a TiVo or a V6 anymore.

TiVo is the software that V6 runs on, your TV360 now runs Horizon software. It's a bit like saying "my Windows 10 laptop now runs the Windows 11 update"

Jim, when you do this does the TV screen give you the impression it’s rebooting…?  So do you get the red Virgin Media symbol for example…?  The reason I ask is that I had mine changed over this week. I’ve got two boxes that are each split to serve to TV’s. On the one that I managed to pair the remote control with, the next day I turned the TV on and had no picture so I had to go and switch the box back on….hence the red symbol. But when the engineer finally came out she said it was because of a standby timer that had been preset. So it might be worth just checking this; press the Home Screen….at the top go to the settings button….then scroll along the top to ‘system’ and look down the list until you see ‘standby timer’. I’ve now set mine to 24 hours which means it will only switch itself off if it’s not been used for 24 hours. Previously it had been set at 4 which naturally meant when I went to bed it would switch the box off during the night. Hope that helps,

Hollybob1 thank you for your response. I now understand that the red bar denotes that the box is in standby mode. I did indeed go to settings and found that mine was on the lowest setting so I have, like you, set mine to 24 hours. Its a pity that you can’t set it to ‘always’. My thoughts were, what happens if you are away for a few days and you set the box to record programs. Will they still record if the box goes into standby? This remains to be seen.

You need to use Quick Start or Active Start to ensure planned recordings happen.

I would be inclined to try that now. Set it up to record a programme….put it on stand by….and then see what happens…!  On the basis that, as you say, there is no ‘always’ option it’s difficult to believe that the recording wouldn’t take place as otherwise there would be no point recording anything if you were going to be out of the house at any time for more than 24 hours.
