Package

Most of the channels are available on freeview and I resent paying for them when I only really want Alibi, Sky Max and Sky Witness which used to be available as an entertainment package? I think the cost was £7 a month but still have to pay for a full package.

VMs packages carry more of the channels available on Freeview in HD. What you are paying for is the equipment rental & the network used to distribute the channels. The packages are sold the way they are so that the channel owners maximise their revenue from being on Virgins platform. If the deals were not favourable you would be paying more for less channels.

Is HD the reason picture quality varies on different channels and some colours looked washed out but unable to even up the colours across all of the channels, also volume level changes?

What I meant was that I would be happy to pay for Alibi and Sky Max and Sky Witness while watching the other channels on freeview via my smart TV.

Pay-TV has never offered individual channels on a one-by-one basis - they've always been bundled together to some degree.

It's how niche channels become viable, by being bundled together with more popular ones.

Some content owners like Sky have huge power. VM has to bundle channels like Sky Max and pay to carry them.

Now TV doesn't allow for recording, and last time I checked you needed the additional £6/month boost for Dolby sound & 1080p HD.

You pays your money and takes your choice.
