Must both TIVO boxes be updated

Trying to watch Skysports+ on the TIVO last night and the picture was basically SD, so I decided to take the plunge, (as I believed probably rather foolishly), that this is improved on the 360 so I ordered it.  I now have a dilemma.  I knew the recordings would be lost so I ordered on a box where I was prepared to lose those recordings.  Is it true that BOTH TIVO boxes must be upgraded or can I upgrade them independently?  And if it's the former can I simply leave the upgrade and not take it?

Yes, both boxes have to be switched (I don't think upgrade is the correct term), and I believe once ordered the switch will happen automatically after about 5 days if you don't start it sooner. So get watching, note down any series links and subscribe to a TV listings magazine, as you can't re-add series links until the program is actually due to be broadcast.

If you have legacy TiVo boxes these are hardware-swapped to TV360 - HDD-less minis if they're additional multiroom boxes.

Current V6 are software-converted to TV360-masters.

The TV360 software is fundamentally different to TiVo in the same way Android is different to Apple - part of the conversion is the hard drive being reformatted and new SW installed. Thus you will be converting all of your boxes and lose everything on them. Series links, recordings, the lot.

Once you've requested a conversion, it's irreversible. Not that it will help you, but VM do plan to release the Sky Sports HD multiscreen on V6 boxes - albeit with no timescale.

The TiVO & Horizon TV platforms are not compatible with each other. Hence why box hard disks have to be reformatted & also why it's migrate both boxes or not at all.

We have been told an HD version of the red button streams (although not the full Sky Sports + red button) will be available soon on V6 boxes, as Sky wants to turn off the compressed satellite feed VM is currently using.
