A while ago I took out Virgin contract with multi room box. We have never used the box but now want to. When the engineer originally installed the services he didn’t supply a remote with the additional box as we were not using it. Now we want to use it but I can’t find anywhere a way to request the remote without charge. This is really frustrating and I’m not getting anywhere with the useless customer service chat

You might need more than that. Did the technician install a coaxial cable outlet in the room you want to use the second box?
If there isn’t you will need a manned install to get your box access to the live TV channels as well as the streaming services provided by connection to your hub.

Thanks, yes we recently moved home and the engineer has installed the right point to access it so it’s ready to go. He said we just need the remote control and should speak to customer services, which is easier said than done!

A member of the forum team should pick this up for you in a day or two.
They may also need to arrange to have your 2nd box reactivating as equipment is usually automatically de-activated if not used for around 30 days. (I'm assuming that you haven't used the second box since you don't have a working remote for that box)
