Irish channels carried by VM

Is there any likelihood that Virgin Media will upgrade channels 875 rte 1 and 876 rte 2 to HD?   The picture quality is poor at times and I understand that even sky have stopped the SD broadcasts.

I know this is an NI issue only but we are paying for it

VM UK master TV headend is at Langley near Heathrow airport. All the HD/UHD channels are line fed to it in uncompressed format directly by the broadcasters as standard. SD channels are either picked up from satellite or terrestrial Freeview at the same site. As the RTE channels are only licenced for reception in NI & there is no direct link between VM UK & VM Ireland's TV infrastructure it is more than likely that the local Freeview reception is used to insert the RTE channels at VMs Belfast headend in Blackstaff Road. The NI RTE Freeview service is SD.
