I have recently purchase a basic simple remote control because the one provided is far too complicated and quick to respond to button actions is now difficult for my wife to operate. I have tried and tried to "pair" my box with the new remote with great difficulty. The manufacturers, who have been very helpful, have suggested I contact Virginmedia and ask if the V360 can be altered to infrared because that's how the remote works. Has anyone else come across this and found a solution? Other than that I am seriously considering closing my TV account. Why on earth do Virgin not provide, maybe as an option, a very, very basic remote control for the elderly or those that cannot simply cope with modern technology which to me makes things more complicated instead of easier and simpler.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to post that I have been able to get the Flipper remote working with a 360 box, so it is possible:

Hi @Spoof
Each 360 remote pairs 1 to 1 with the box, it does not use infra-red (IR). This means you can only use one remote with a box and not multiple.
Which third party remote did you purchase?
You can use some third party remotes such as the OneForAll URC7125 - use the SimpleSet setup process and choose Ziggo as the manufacturer.
There's also the OneForAll1240 - if you enter code 1582, It's not as expensive as the URC7125 and has 4 selects for tv/sat/amp/dvd. I found I needed direct line of sight to set up the 1240 and that may be the same for the URC7125.
Also the Logitech Harmony remote works. You need to set them up as a "Ziggo Mediabox Next"
Some TV's smart remotes also work with the 360 box. I have an LG and can set it up to control my 360.
Some TV's recognise the box as Virgin, with others you may need to search for Ziggo, or Ziggo Mediabox Next.
You can also control the 360 by using the Virgin TV Go app.

I don't know which remote you have bought but the one for all URC7125 seems to be a popular choice, another one for all remote someone has used is the URC1240 and they said the code 1582 worked.
If you have a set of codes for your remote see if it has a code for Ziggo Mediabox Next because that is what the 360 is also known as.
Edited to add that Newapollo got there first.

Thanks for that info. I purchased "Flipper" after reading all the reviews. It really is the simplest of all to use, if only I could!!

Thanks but can't find a code for Ziggo? According to this and other replies sounds like an answer,if only...?

HI again @Spoof
I've been on the Flipper website and looked at the latest manual.
https://flipper.zendesk.com/Flipper_US_Codelist_V9.5.pdf
There are two versions of the 360 box, Arris and Humax.
To check which you have, on your 360 box go to Settings > Info > About
On the first screen the make of the box is shown next Hardware Version. In my instance it shows 'Arris-DCX960-MPA+' so my 360 box manufacturer is Arris (yours may say Humax)
You 'might' be able to program it using one of the Arris codes from the Flipper V9.5 manual:-
2084,3104,3904,3924, 3934,3944
If your 360 is a Humax box you 'might' be able to program it using 2324
<fingers crossed>

Thanks, Mine is a Humax box, I have tried all the codes provided without any luck.
The helpline on Flipper, which I must admit is very good, tell me that because after everything I have tried it looks as though needs to be infra red?

Hi Spoof,
Could be worth trying the Verizon codes, 2084,2664.

Hi Spoof,
Thanks for taking the time to post about your issues in the Community. ⭐
We're sorry to hear you're having an issue with getting your purchased remote to work. As mentioned above, the 360 box remote doesn't use infra red and we would be unable to change this.
Whilst we can give some basic codes, if these are not working then there wouldn't be anything else we can advise I'm afraid.
If you find the 360 remote hard to use, then you may benefit from our accessibility remote which is a high contrast version. It offers the following features:
If you feel this would be beneficial, let us know and we can pop you a message to arrange this for you.
Thanks,
