I have exactly the sane problem - was this ever resolved?

I have changed the HDMI cable, I've turned the 360 box off and on. I have the sound through speakers (NOT a soundbar). I have checked the audio settings - on Follow Content. I can occasionally get the correct sound if I switch out of one of the above Apps and go to say, BBC Iplayer, then go back into the App. But it's been like this for months and it's getting worse.

Hi @AnnieR2
Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community.
Is the sound OK using the normal TV, not the speakers?
Best wishes.

Thanks for coming back to us AnnieR2, does this happen with any other sources such as a DVD player or games console or is it just with your Virgin Media equipment?
Kind Regards,

I got a Virgin engineer round - he didn't know what the problem was either. Installed a new box (which meant I lost all my recordings) - same problem. He rang a colleague who told him to switch the audio output to PCM 5.1(HDMI only) - it was on 'Follow Content' previously. That did the trick! Very annoying as I could have done that myself and had checked the forum for this problem and it stated that the audio output SHOULD be on Follow Content. Hopefully this will help any other people dealing with this problem.
