360 APP

Hi

So ordered the upgrade without watching the video and now realise will lose all recordings. Apparently according to CS once ordered the App will be installed and only way to ensure you do not lose recordings is to never turn box off. I can't believe no way to stop recordings being deleted and you cannot even cancel the upgrade...

360 isn't an app.

If you 'update' your box to 360 then it will delete all your recordings because it reformats the hard drive before loading the new software.

When it's running 360 software you will be able to turn the box off the same as when it was a V6.

I don't think that not turning the box off will help, if you don't initiate the change to the 360 software yourself it will happen automatically within about 5 days anyway, regardless of whether you turn off the box, deleting your recordings AND series links. You will then struggle to set your series links up again as the 360 only lets you set up series links for programs that are currently in the TV guide, so you will need to keep the checking the guide for the next year or so in order to spot the shows you want to record.

Also, you will be stuck with the inferior 360 software, which does not offer anything like the sort of recording options available on the V6\TiVo.

Correct to state that TV360 is a completely different software platform to TiVo/V6 and part of the conversion involves a reformat of your box's hard drive before the new Horizon software is installed.

I'm not sure about the strict 5-day rule, but it's correct that you have a short time to manually instigate the migration before it's done automatically.

If you have requested to convert, start checking all your recordings for OnDemand availability or whether they can be recorded again. Watch those which can't be, and start noting all your series links - they will need recreating from the TV Guide from scratch.

V360 is a migration to a totally new TV platform. V360 runs on Horizon firmware, V6 on TiVO firmware, & the two are incompatible, the same as Android & iOS cannot run on the same phone.

Before I migrated from the V6 to the 360 I took several photos of what I had saved to help me rebuild what I had on the 360.
