Can't get Stream box :-(

Phoned this morning in the hope of adding a stream box but I'm not eligible.

I have the maxit bundle, or whatever it is called now, with 2 v6 boxes. Just wanted a streaming box for a TV that I don't need a v6 box connected to but been told because I have a TV package I can't get ir.

Seemed an ideal solution for us (review a no go until analogue is ditched and some frequencies freed up on our nearest transmitter).

Anyone else with TV package been able to add a stream box?

Note: this is not the end of the world and this isn't a RAGE pist, just find it strange. Guess I'm an edge case.

Stream is a non-recording basic TV solution that's seen as an add-on for broadband-only customers. V6 & TV360 are fully-functional recording boxes with multiroom streaming between them.

The two systems are different and cannot be mixed - if you have 2 x V6 currently, you do have the option of an additional V6 with its own coax, internet connection & HDD. Your other option is to have Freeview on your additional TV and only have the FTA broadcast channels with whatever apps are available if that TV is also internet-connected.

Analogue terrestrial TV was ditched in 2012, so if you can’t get the Freeview channels you want now, they will never be broadcast locally. There is a box coming out soon that pulls the Freeview channels from the internet, but if you want multiroom from Virgin the only option currently is the broadcast type receivers that pull the live channels direct from the coax.

Unfortunately we're served by a relay transmitter which has insufficient capacity to carry the multiplexes for freeview. There's been talk for years about sorting this but suspect it's as much a commercial issue as it is technical. The next nearest transmitter only has capacity for Freeview Lite.....with a really sketchy signal.

Freeview Play would be ideal if it was on a roku box but I'm not buying a new telly to get it.

Freely might be an option but it sounds like it will be pretty much exclusive to new TVs too.

VM's stream box is just what I need but alas I already pay VM too much to qualify for one....or rather I'm seen as a cash cow and they want another £6+ out of me a month for what is less convenient for me 😜

It is what it is though, not the end ofbthe world.

Sorry we're unable to supply the Stream Box to you @mike_gain.

As correctly advised by @japitts, we cannot offer a Stream Box to customers who have already subscribed to our TV services with the aid of our set top boxes.

Hopefully you're able to find a suitable alternative solution for this matter.

Thanks,
