Move from TiVo to streaming
Hi
I’m thinking of moving from TiVo box to stream and was told by VM that I can’t have stream. ALL existing customers on tv boxes CAN NOT get streaming as the VM system won’t allow it. They are working on changing their system but no news how long it will take. Only new HOUSEHOLDS can get stream. I can do to Sky and get it but not by staying with virgin. Anyone else heard this?
Hi Janehodson43
The Stream service can't be taken in addition to any other VM TV service, so any customers that currently have a TV service, be it Tivo, V6 or TV360 would need to cancel that TV subscription before they could order the Stream service. You wouldn't be able to have your current TV package on Stream either.
The link posted by Daniel to the tv edit page contains information that's now out of date. Changes were made to the Stream service on 14th October. The changes only affect new Stream customers.
The Stream boxes are now called Flex. Instead of the £35 activation fee indicated on that TV edit page it's been reduced to a £10 one off activation fee. Previously the basic channels on the Stream box were free, but they now cost an additional £5 per month.
New customers within VM's full fibre broadband area (XGS-PON) customers can't order VM's traditional cabled TV service as it doesn't work on the new fibre connections, They are therefore restricted to having to purchase the Stream (Flex) boxes, which is TV over the internet and those boxes don't have recording facilities.
The only other way you could get a Stream (Flex) box would be if you qualified for VM's <Essential Broadband> , and then you could take out the Essential Broadband Plus with Flex for £25 a month.
