Right so some posts on here but nothing definitive.
I’ve been told by sales reps that stream uses multicast same as EETV. Is this correct?
I’ve also been told that live tv delay is around 5-7 seconds. But I’ve not found anyone getting below 25-30 seconds delay on live tv broadcasts?
Some official answers would be helpful.

Yes, I would think that VM’s stream service does work over a multicast protocol. But that doesn't actually mean anything specific. Multicast refers to a group of technologies whereby a stream of data can be sent to a subset of clients rather than everyone. However, almost certainly the VM sales rep, didn’t actually know what they were talking about, and any reference to EETV is completely irrelevant.
Do expect a delay of 25-30 seconds, could be less but don’t depend on it!

You would think that with 'Virgins' experience in delivering TV over the wire for many a year that they'd manage to get on par with EE(BT)TV in terms of delivery time for live tv. Or surely be working in the background trying to ge the time delay down to match the competitors in the space

Hi sharpmurray,
Thanks for posting and sorry you're experiencing some delay with live shows. We've popped an email over to a colleague to get an answer on this for you, will let you know when we have an update.
