Help please and apologies if this is a really obvious question. I am not enjoying the Olympic coverage and would like to download Discovery +, I do of course understand that I'd have to pay for this! I can't see the channel listed in the apps available to download. Can someone help please? TIA

There is no agreement between Virgin & Discovery that allows the use of the Discovery+ app on their boxes, so unless you subscribe to Amazon Prime (which includes access to Discovery+) you have no access to the content on Virgin boxes.

Hi @DebJon
You could sign up for a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime and then get access to Discovery+ for £3.99 a month
https://www.amazon.co.uk/tryprimefree
Once the Amazon Prime free trial is up your subscription will be automatically renewed at the regular price – so don’t forget to cancel before that happens, if you don’t want to continue watching (and start paying)
Once signed up for Amazon Prime you can then subscribe to and access Discovery+ via Amazon Prime on your VM set top box.
Discovery+ is currently reduced in price to £3.99 a month for the Standard tier (which includes Eurosport and the Olympics coverage) The discounted price is until December 2024 but you can cancel that at any time..

Hello, thank you for replying. Yes I'd finally thought of that so have downloaded Amazon Prime (and noted when I have to cancel!) but currently have stopped there. I thought that I had to sign up for Discovery until the end of the year, I'll now double check that. Thanks again for the reply.

You can cancel your Amazon free trial straight away and still get the 30 days free. If you waited until the end of the trial it would auto renew so you would be charged for 30 days going forward from that date..
There's a minimum term of one month for Discovery+ so you don't have to keep it until the end of the year.
Either sign up for Discovery + through the Amazon Prime app or via the Discovery + website (https://www.discoveryplus.com/gb)
You can sign into the Amazon Prime Video app on your Virgin set top box using the details you used when you downloaded Amazon Prime and then watch Discovery +.
To cancel Discovery+
If you subscribed through Prime Video Channels then to cancel your discovery+ subscription billed through Prime Video:
Go to Manage Your Prime Video Channels and sign in to your Amazon account (if prompted).
Find discovery+ in the Your Channels section.
Choose the Cancel Channel option and confirm.
If you subscribed through discoveryplus.com then sign in via that website and choose your profile (upper right) and then Account.
In the Subscription section, choose Cancel.
If Cancel isn't available, your subscription is billed through an app store or with your TV package.
Once you cancel, you'll get an email confirming the cancellation. You can continue streaming until your subscription expires at the end of your billing period.

This is all very well, but why exactly is Discovery+ not on Virgin Media yet? There were heavy rumours going about, at the beginning of this year I think it was, that VM and Discovery were in talks. Is there no prospect of this streamer coming to Virgin Media before Max takes over in 2026?
As a content aggregator, it is important that all the popular streamers at least can be found on Virgin Media.
