Discovery Plus, TNT Sports

If you have TNT Sports as part of your Virgin package, and your favourite sport gets shown live on Discovery + instead of TNT Sports because that weekend there's too much going on to fit on the 4 channels, what does Virgin recommend you do?

As far as I can see there's still no Discovery + app for Virgin. Virgin's TNT Sports package doesn't include a Discovery+  subscription. So the only solution apparently is to pay Discovery the ~£30 per month on top of the £18 to Virgin. And then watch on the TV either via a laptop and Chromecast or via Amazon Prime and the Amazon app. This seems ... unfair.

Last year and the year before when this happened I bought a one month basic (£3 or £6) sub from Discover+. Casting to Chromecast was horribly delayed and glitchy. But this year the sports are going to be on the Premium sub.  And with Eurosports closing down they've got to fit all the sports into 4 channels instead of 6. So this spill over to Discovery+ is only going to get worse.

I've talked to Discovery+ help and they didn't have an answer. They said talk to Virgin. So what's Virgin's response? Talk to Discovery+???

  • Hi Jbond 👋 Welcome back to the community forum! Thanks for posting and sharing your feedback.

Sadly we don't currently provide Discovery+ via our TV services so there's not anything we can do to help offer support with your access to the service.

Anything available via TNT currently should be accessible via your TV Box subscription, channels and Catchup. If there's anything via Discovery+ we can advise you can access this via Amazon Prime, but as it's not a service we currently provide directly we are limited in being able to offer any further support.
I appreciate this isn't the answer you are looking for - sincerest apologies about this! Wishing you all the best. 🌞
