I have had 1gb internet for around twelve months.
Have done a few speed tests and the best i've got it 450mb download nowhere near advertised speed.
I thought it might be the ethernet cable. I'm now using a Cat 6 cable from a 5e but still the same.
I've got the Wifi 6 router and not using a third party router.
I've tried different ports on the router. I'm using a Surface Pro 5 connected with a Kensington 3500 docking station.
A speed test on my mobile phone has got up to 800mb download speed on wireless.
Is there anything else I can do. I thought i'd get close to the advertised speed on a wired connection thanks.

So the Hub is getting the full speed. You will need to investigate why your wired device is slow. It may not be capable of the full 940 (approx) Ethernet speed.

Run a direct wired test on the Hub on this site, and choose the FULL tests. Post the results please
www.samknows.com/realspeed This needs the Hub to be in Router mode btw, it will not work in modem mode.

What's the CPU usage like when running a speed test?

While it's common to see some fluctuation in internet speeds, a significant difference between your advertised speed (1Gbps) and your actual speed (450Mbps) is cause for concern.

It looks like the device won't get the speed. Nothing wrong with the connection.

It looks like the advertised speed is available and its the device that's the problem. It must be throttling the speed or its not capable of 1gbs. Its a Surface Pro 5 2017. If anyone knows if these should get the speed on a wired connection?

Don't forget it's connected to the Kensington 3500 docking station. What is the throughput on this kit?
