1gb upgrade but still same download speed as before

I've upgraded my package online to 1gb from 500mb after recieving an email offer. Ive ran a test and 1gb speed is going to hub but the WiFi download speed is only 480mb. I was getting this speed when I was signed up to 500mb. I test next to the hub and the hub is a hub 4. Thanks

You need to post a picture of a speed test using a wired connection via https://samknows.com/realspeed/

I haven't got a wired connection but I'm using the same device and same location that gave me results on the 500mb broadband and my download speeds have not improved. In some rooms it's dropped to 125mb.  I don't see the point of paying for faster speeds when nothing has changed.

VM only guarantee Wifi speeds of 30Mb.   Speed tests need to be done with a direct wired connection to the Hub as Wifi is prone to interference etc.  Are your devices connecting to the 5Ghz band?

I understand wired connection has better connection speeds but my main issue is that I've upgraded to double my speed and nothing has changed. All testing was done with exactly same device in same location before and after upgrade. If youve been upgraded you would expect there to be an upgrade using same device.

It has changed, it's just your devices/HUB that aren't capable of faster speeds based on location.

What device is it? What speed is it connected to the HUB?

As mentioned above if https://samknows.com/realspeed/ returns full speed over the VM network the bandwidth is available across multiple devices at the same time.

My device is Samsung s21 ultra. Just seems strange and disappointing nothings changed. Is it a possibility the hub 4 is the problem and maybe a hub 5 would be better?

It sounds like it's the hub to me but it is a difficult one to prove. Maybe get a better router and stick the hub in modem mode.

Well the HUB 4 is WiFi 5, the Samsung has WiFi 6e, and the HUB 5 is WiFi 6, so technically moving to a HUB 5 would get you better download speeds to that specific device.

Not forgetting you'll 'lose' some bandwidth due to the Gigabit ports, so 940Mbps rather than 1130 (1152)Mbps across all devices.
