You can also check for a loose cable as not all properties have a socket. Look outside for a brown or grey VM box on the wall and trace the cable to the inside. However the one with the joint and black mark "may" be a VM cable? The other one has the end cut off so not much use. It also looks like a wifi access point on the end of the ethernet?
If it is a loose cable only, you will need one of these to connect the Quickstart cable. https://www.diy.com/departments/slx-f-type-satellite-cable-coupler/5028422001905_BQ.prd
Try calling the pre-installs team on 0800 052 1734 8AM- 9PM Monday - Friday or 8AM-6PM Saturday and Sunday
Also VM do not do any ethernet cabling, so it will be up to you to investigate those.

I was thinking the exposed cable could just use and adapter to hook up to the wifi
yes that is an access point but it was already here it only has ethernet
that joint cable would I just untwist or get a splitter?

That joint will just unscrew. Note it already has a coupler, so the QuickStart cable will just push on to it. If it works, great. If not ring the pre install team and explain you will need a manned install.
